hi,
Has anyone tried to make a jamma conversion for the legendary Daytona USA to work on your supergun / adapted cabinet ?

It's model 2- plenty of premade adapters already exist to "connect" model 2 to jamma-- what were you going to use for analog controls?
also it's a 24k game, so it won't display on a traditional arcade cabinet with a 15k only monitor or a normal supergun that outputs component/composite/svideo.

The second part is pretty easy to overcome with an upscan or downscan adapter depending on what you're doing.
The first part- if you want buttons and joystick controls... it doesn't really make much sense for an arcade driving game... what did you have in mind- some kind of gutted console driving wheel and pedals converted for raw potentiometer output?

What i had in mind was to use my Supergun for the mission. I bought a second hand computer steering wheel and was going to wire the POT according to the controller port's pinout (I made the design as flexible as possible in my Supergun). I had no idea that I will not be able to output image via my Supergun. Why is that problem exists? Why can't the Supergun's video card make the adaptation?

That's true however Daytona uses a completely different filterboard than other Model 2 games. It's pre-Model 2A and half the connector are RA, not even all NH

To further throw a wrench in the works I believe the "view" buttons aren't even wired like normal buttons but into some kind of button matrix to reduce the pin count... I could be confusing this with something else though.

i did some research and from what I found in the web (the Daytona owners manual) the pinout is pretty simple.
I'm a little worried about the video issue:

I'll take some pictures of the boards i got to make sure I have all the components I need.

better off making a dedicated supergun/whatever to play the game honestly...

Interesting- I've avoided the Model 2 driving and motion games like the plague... Thanks for clearing this up!

According system16 Virtua Cop 1 and Desert Tank both use the Pre-Model 2A board configuration, though it's unclear if they have the same filterboard as Daytona or something else entirely.

At least the rest Revs A-C all use the same connectors (just in different locations). it actually surprises me how many joystick/button games are on the model 2 hardware, most of those games seem like they would have been more at home on a JAMMA board like the ST-V

Can't argue, however Model1/2/3/etc seems to come from the "kitchen sink" design team of AM2, while the ST-V comes from the risk management department.

I got the following boards (see pictures):
839-0683
839-0657
839-0658
837-10539
the main game PCB
837-8679 a Sound BD from virtua racing 1

I got the owners manual and familiar with the connections that i need to do but im not sure i got all the boards.

I purchased some molex type connectors for the filter boards and basically i'm going to make a jamma conversion to play with my ABP-01 supergun.

what else do i need to make it work ?
