So with current versions costing up to €120 ex. shipping, i'm sure these can be made cheaper in bulk in China somewhere.
There's not a lot of active parts on it, most of the work is done by the PI itself.

If you do not know what this is, basically a shield with some rgb dac/ladder conversion to RGB and 15Khz output over a jamma edge.

How about it? :)

Also here's a bigger pic with all the parts properly visible.

this has come up every time i get together with my local friends for a game session recently.. one of them has used Retropie with a Ipac or Jpac, and some messing with the USB compatibilty of same with good results, but this is using a HDMI screen. a 'shield' that really does all the Jamma stuff properly is a 100% WANT.

Just cos'.

you're not going to get cheaper unless you can order a whole lot more of them.
120 isn't bad for such a niche product.

but while we're redesigning it these are the changes I'd make, in this order:

1. add mounting holes near the JAMMA edge so 4 feet can be properly installed
2. set it up so the Pi plugged in from the other side, as it is now the pi is the base and it ends up being top heavy (or it gets mounted upside down and the JAMMA edge is backwards)
3. add a key notch to the JAMMA edge (and round the corners while we're at it)
4. add options for CPS1/CPS2 style kick headers so it's plug and play with most 6-button cabinets.
5. route all of the GPIO pins of the Pi to an expansion header, so if people want to play around with using the remaining pins for lamp outputs or analog inputs or other things they can
6. add a power indicator LED
7. add a couple of power headers similar to the Sega JVS I/O boards for plugging in additional boards

I'd like to see one that unifies all of the 240p video options on one board as well: Jamma, RGB (via din-8 or Scart), and Component output.

If you want SCART or component output for use with an RGB TV why not go with one of the many other better/cheaper options?

JAMMA has a bunch of other requirements that just add cost to non arcade setups (such as built in audio amplification, video amplification, large PCB to plug into the JAMMA edge, etc. it doesn't make sense to try to dual-purpose a board when it'd be cheaper to make two separate boards for the separate purposes.

My French is terrible, could you tell more about it?
I see it is made by the same guy as the cps1 multi?

Does he sell this outside of France?

that looks like a really well thought out board design it addresses most of my complaints with the board in the first post.

It would be an option if they would be interested to sell it, which obviously isn't the case since they only offer it on a "family and friends" basis.

Pi2jamma is currently the only option.

Do we have someone here that could act as proxy?.. I would love to get one. How does this one compare with the pi2jamma?

This is actually the best design of them all:

To get it you have to live in France and be a active member on neo-arcadia.
Right now Aje still have some work to do with the modlines (of each game) and also with the RPI distribution.
It's not only limited to France and active members, but those active members are helping by testing the romsets and giving feedback.
The distribution is at version 11.0 and at each update Aje must keep everybody updated with the changes and so on.
I guess it will be more complicated if he will open that to no French speakers since he must translate and explain in a different language than his mother tongue.
This is my guess :whistling: and I hope that people are not offended

I'm pretty sure this forum would be glad to help with translations and what's not ;)

A CPS1 Multi is an instant buy for most people here...
