i know this is a bit old post, but i have encounter such error because of the vga card. We had both japanese and asia version which use different vga card type. i accidentally used another one and result in that very error.

would you mind to share that cd image? might come in handy. i think i have some non cd games in my office.

Lend it to someone who can dump the these flash chips. In theory, it might be possible to create serial terminal to dump the flash via usb connector on the board, with custom program loaded via cd. But that is another story.

a bit incorrect. for the game to install, it needs CD (original or dump), and install security cassette. later version (afair, from ddr5 up), install and game security cart have become one cart, and they used pic chip for that. for earlier version, the install cassette is different with game...

they usually used SSD, and not protected. i don't know about the recent one (saw more variant copy of the game with different I/O bd).

Uhm... the sense pin connected to arduino as input. i don't quite remember, but when i omit the diode, the protocol refuse to work.
