The boot audio uses FM only so thats why it sounds fine, check the SD signal pins on the prog board cart slots and between the audio ics.

I've fixed similar issues with 4 slot boards, turned out to be severed traces on the top board between the audio side ic's.

Hey, I have 2 A-Boards that work fine but have an issue where the service menu volume is stuck at 39. Volume adjustment works fine whilst the game is running, same thing happens with multiple games, any ideas?

I finally got one in the mail after buying via a proxy, the part works but is slightly different. The diameter of the white part is slightly larger and the shaft isn't notched for the grub screw for the volume knob. I filed the shaft in the second picture and it volume knob attaches firmly...

Just so you know theres 2 different CMC variants and they aren't compatible with each other. I've never swapped one before but I've been succesful swapping the roms instead, reflowing the pins didn't fix my issue. https://wiki.neogeodev.org/index.php?title=NEO-CMC

Hey not sure if this helps but I have a ms2931 that had the same issue with a blue screen and then shutting off. I swapped the neck board and it works fine. I'm still trying to get to the bottom of the issue, not sure how similiar the neck boards are.
