there are a couple of things that will cause that, first replace r36 on the neck card 270r and see if that sorts it

these chinese flybacks tend to put out around 15kv, if you max out the hv pot you will get around 24kv which is good enough

the flyback fails internally and sends the hv to unknown levels, I have not seen it blow the end of a tube off but i have heard reports from others that it does this. I have seen a few fail to the point of excessive hv and the noise is quite disturbing, lucky I had no tube damage on these occasions

hv goes super high

looks like its been like that for some time, replace that connector and resolder the chassis header and clean the header pins- you get a bad connection on horizontal header and this does happen

probably too much brightness, if you turn screen volts too high most chassis will shut down

did you try increasing the screen volts?

nanao ms8-29 suffer from bad solder joints, bad caps and delicate tracks

fyi the flyback has 3 pots because the it can be used on dual focus tubes, in that case the 2 focus pots are outer and inner screen focus. When used on a single focus tube only one of the pots will do anything As mentioned the glued pot is screen(brightness) and thats the one you need to adjust.

i think its on the video b+ line on the main chassis but i need to look at a chassis to check

swapping entire monitor or just chassis? if only chassis the ms8-29 will not match the deflection yoke of a 2930 to 2934
