You should not be able to flash at all with a NO CD BIOS. You also shouldn't be able to do anything at all with Darksoft BIOS + a missing 7th SIMM; you should be getting a "not enough memory" error at startup. Darksoft BIOS requires maxed out memory IIRC. Ah, looks like my speculation was...

UPDATE: I buzzed out everything I found on this post (post #5 to be specific): LSPC2<->G0/D0<->43256; 68K<->E0<->HC259 (or thereabouts), as well as BIOS pin 20 to E0 pin 59. Everything checks out. I also buzzed out the BIOS to the 68K, seems like everything's continuous.

Back again with another AES in a bad way... this one was stuck in the click of death (fast clicking/popping), then I started messing with it. :D I immediately found a bunch of corrosion around the LSPC2; I cleaned most of it and ran a few bodge wires, and I was able to buzz everything out...

I realized I never followed up here for posterity, but... it got fixed! Not by me, though. I sent it off to Sharp Image Repair in Las Vegas, and they did... I have no idea what they did, other than a full recap (since that part was obvious), but it has worked perfectly since I got it back.

At the risk of sounding stupid, do you need to first enable the RCA out in the test menu before you get any sound out of them? They do indeed only output line level, so you wouldn't need a line level converter. That's only needed if you're pulling the amplified audio from the JAMMA edge.
