    Blast City Cleanup/Restore - Stringbean

It's surprising how fast time flies. It's been 1.5 years since my last post and I've finally managed to set other projects aside and try completing this one. It's good to be back. In that time, I moved and had to pack up an entire arcade machine in boxes and pray nothing would be lost or...

    Blast City Cleanup/Restore - Stringbean

It's still unfinished! Fortunately, I've now finally found some time to work on it again so I'm hoping this project may eventually come to a point of completion.

    Blast City Cleanup/Restore - Stringbean

The shop that did the work is very experienced but ya I don't even think they knew what they were getting into. There were a lot of complaints when I was picking things up about how hard and unexpected everything was to re-plate. That being said it wasn't a cheap service. With all the metal it...

    Blast City Cleanup/Restore - Stringbean

Two months really flew by there. It has been a while since I've written any updates primarily because I was waiting on various parts/services. I finally have everything I need to start re-assembly. Now, I just need to find time to do so. Here are some pretty things I recently received. Got...

FS Repro Marquee Holders (Vewlix, Astro City, Egret, AWSD, Naomi Universal, (New) Net City, Capcom Cute)

Just received one of these Astro City marquee panels and realized I don't have any screws for it. Does anyone know a good place to get the top screws that hold the plastic pieces together? I think I need a small screw and dome shaped nut.

    Zero 3 Training Rom

This is really exciting! Having this title in the DS multi setup will be great if possible. Especially considering how well it was done. I’ve never used the Super Turbo training rom so I can’t compare that but the description of this one sounds extra polished.

    Zero 3 Training Rom

@rememberizer for those of us completely clueless on this, is there any way you could give a description of the steps to reproduce your success?

    Blast City Cleanup/Restore - Stringbean

@codecrank oh, interesting. I wasn't aware of that. Only used it to polish up/restore the plastics. Fortunately, I wasn't planning on putting it in the joystick since I'm buying new sticks. :)

I would assume so as long as you dry the electronics thoroughly after finishing.

Softdrink's New Astro City Restore Log

@Softdrink using a belt sander for the wheels was a genius move too. I also need to key my JAMMA connectors like you've done as well because I'm always paranoid about that.

Softdrink's New Astro City Restore Log

Great work @Softdrink! I'll be shamelessly copying some of the things you've done here. I like the idea of marking the service date on cap changes and the service light clips you designed look like an excellent improvement to any cab. I used more aggressive cleaning products when removing rust...

Is there a guide on how to patch roms for the multi?

DARKSOFT CPS2 Champion Multi: Instructions and tips (new Version after 10.2020)

I was booting up some of the ROM hacks in the encrypted rollup pack and I'm uncertain what is different about them. Does anyone know of what the changes are exactly in all the CPS2 ROM hacks?

Ah, so it was supposed to be there. Well, we have some places in and around Seattle that specialize in zinc coating so maybe I'll look into getting all the metal parts re-plated.

    Blast City/ Bass Fishing

Wow, great work! I’m actually half through replacing my speakers with the same on my blast. How did you get the speaker boxes back in the narrow slot with the extra width that those Aurasound speakers add? Did you dremel them or just push them in with force?

    Blast City Cleanup/Restore - Stringbean

Yesterday, all I did was pull the metal parts from the vinegar and apply some of the Nevr Dull polish to them. Not sure why I didn't just do this yesterday, but today I detached the remaining parts from the bottom and front portion of the power supply box and dunked the outer metal parts in...

    Astro City Restoration - stringbean

Of course! Happy to hear you’ve got some good tips from this. Also, check the restore I’m doing now on a blast to find a few extra good tips on cleaning a dirty arcade with lots of nicotine and smoke residue.

    Blast City Cleanup/Restore - Stringbean

Today, when I first went out I retrieved a few metal pieces I had left in the vinegar bath overnight. It was amazing how the vinegar did pretty much all the work to get those brown stains off the metal. Here is what it looked like when I removed the lid from the vinegar bin. You can see a lot of...

If you don't mind bending the brackets that hold them in, yes. People have even removed the speakers without removing the monitor if you search around for the blast city speaker threads. Here is the cleaning vinegar, but I think honestly anything you can get from a grocery store will work.
