Windygaming offers it, but it's out of stock and ebay only has one from Canada for about $40. Any other place I could it from? Maybe building one myself?

yaj has used ones sometimes. you can just make it yourself for less than they charge to buy one... but your time is worth something too. best bet is to get a used panel that includes all of the harnesses.

Don't forget though, if you use the aux button input in the control panel, you need a matching output one for down inside the cab next to the JAMMA connector. so you will probably have to build that regardless. maybe Lemony or someone sells an astro to cps2 already wired up?

Any tutorial or documentation on how to make one?

this should get you started:
https://wiki.arcadeotaku.com/w/Sega_Blast_City_Wiring_Guide
https://wiki.arcadeotaku.com/w/Kick_Harness#CPS2.2FCPS3_-_2_Player_Harness

you essentially just make a ground wire with several connectors on it to hook up to the extra buttons. then run one signal wire to each button. inside the cab you have to do the reverse pinout to cps2 connector.
Sorry for being so indecisive, but I think I'll just buy one from YAJ. Do you have a link to his page? I couldn't find his profile.

YAJ is Yahoo Auctions Japan... Basically their eBay. hate to send you down a rabbit hole, but prepare yourself. Find yourself a good proxy and learn how to translate what you're looking for. Good luck.

They're actually pretty easy to make, no soldering needed. If you're buying a cheap crimping tool then that and the parts will cost about the same or a bit more than a kick harness from eBay but after that you'll be able to make them for any other cabinet you get as well as ones for games with weird wiring pinouts. Helped me out quite a bit when I had to hook up a Nesica card reader to my NNC.

Can anyone check this shopping list to build my own harnesses?

First I need a crimping tool https://www.amazon.com/IWISS-Crimping-AWG28-18-Ratcheting-Connector/dp/B01N4L8QMW

Then the crimp that goes in the housing https://www.digikey.com/product-det...-amp-connectors/175151-1/A107106CT-ND/3488667

1p/2p control housing https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/te-connectivity-amp-connectors/176278-9/A128205-ND/5124073

Kick connector housing https://www.digikey.com/products/en.../rectangular-connectors-housings/319?k=176277

Some female 0.110 quick disconnects, and some insulation

https://paradisearcadeshop.com/home...nects/1256_110-quick-disconnect-no-insulation

https://paradisearcadeshop.com/home...-disconnects/1242_110-quick-disconnect-sleeve

Also these for ground https://paradisearcadeshop.com/home...hains/404_30-connection-black-daisy-chain-110

And then wiring, maybe 22 gauge? I’m not familiar enough to eyeball what's being used.

Then just wire it all up per https://wiki.arcadeotaku.com/w/Sega_Blast_City_Wiring_Guide

Let me know if this looks good, or where I’m wrong, or could just do better overall.

Thanks!

That's all you need for kick harnesses. However for 1P and 2P harnesses you also need the 5-pin connectors for the sticks. The connector is JST NH:

https://wiki.arcadeotaku.com/w/JST_NH

Or if you have older sticks like the LS-32 without the 5-pin connector, then you need .187" quick disconnects and sleeves.

22 gauge is spot on.

Nice, thanks! The jlf sticks I ordered came with the connectors so I hadn’t thought about adding that. Apparently I need to learn how to use the crimping tool because it isn’t super straightforward.

I have the same crimping tool, it works well. Just put the quick-connect into the appropriate hole, click down a couple times, the tool will hold the quick-connect in-place, insert your wire, crimp down, good to go. =)

Your post is where I got the link for the tool! There’s little bits of info everywhere, I just tried to gather it all in one place.
