I have been thinking about hook up. Xbox 360 to a Vewlix or a Nnc cab.
I am a completly noob at game consoles to cabinets.

What do i need?
Is there some type of board to make button Joystick work?

Path of least resistance is to grab an official Microsoft 360 vga cable, and one of the Brooks boards.

So i just wire button and Joystick to the brook board.
Then i need some usb adapter going from Brooks board to the xbox?

Exactly!

Very easy and it's not any different than wiring up a fight stick so there are a hundred video tutorials out there for that part.

If fighting games go Vewlix because the fighting games are 16:9 widescreen for most fighting games..

If SMUMPS NNC 4:3 480p.

Is it possible to set screen to vertical on shmups or do i need to play vertical games on horizontal screen?

Is there some 360 model thats better?
And what about different regions?

You can play Xbox 360 shmups either way with the screen if the original supported tate.

The slim models, those without faceplate options for the console, are recommended for longevity. Older models are susceptible to RLOD issues .

If not modded, a JPN console is the way to go because of region locked games.

Most Cave shumps have a Tate option and you can adjust the screen H&W.. just make sure that you get an Xbox 360 that can do both, analog and digital video output.

Best option is
jpn ntsc console
Brooks board
Usb to xbox controller adapter
Vga cable with 2 RCA

I think you'd spend less buying a modded 360 than a JP one at this point. With the added bonus of not having to use discs.
