Sega uses a really obscure brand for many of it's start buttons. they're 24mm, have an opaque housing but a semi-transparent plunger that lights up. They've been using these since at least as far back as Hang-On and as recently as Hikaru games (maybe newer).

The problem is these buttons suck. They're used on Virtual On. OMG twin units have a white housing with yellow plunger, and VOOT and Force all have a black housing with a yellow plunger. I've rebuilt every one of these buttons I have and they still tend to flake out or jam. and new ones cost $32 a pop plus shipping: http://arcadefixit.com/product.sc?productId=1293&categoryId=-1 I even bought one to replace a button I had that was beyond repair only to have it jam up on me after a couple of months. I swapped it with a generic Sanwa just because I don't want the headache.

Obviously being a 24mm button I could buy some nice Sanwas with a black housing and yellow plunger and have them drop right in and fix the reliability problem but there are two issues with that.

1. as far as I can tell you can't illuminate the plunger only on a 24mm Sanwa.

2. to be completely accurate the plunger needs to not look transparent when it's not lit up. Though I'd be willing to forgive this if I could get one to light up properly.

The closest I've been able to find is this: http://www.amazon.com/uxcell®-Arcad...41&sr=8-19&keywords=illuminated+arcade+button

looks nice in the pictures but it's really a 30mm button with a 24mm shaft so when you mount it in a 24mm hole it sticks up about a half inch and looks like garbage.

Anyone who knows of another option for a good replacement button please let me know... 24mm, convex, black housing yellow plunger and illuminated.
