What's new
Yeah, I felt a little taken advantage of by marketing, I won't lie there. I didn't think I'd have to put an extra 200-300 dollars into this but here I am.

Update: I just finally had time to test this. It looks like the board, power supply, and JAMMA harness work. However, I can't get a signal due to "not supported" errors. It looks like I'll need a supergun or OSSC for sure.

Supergun and OSSC do two different things. What is happening, the monitor is telling you the signal is not supported? How is the video hooked up?

Yeah, If I try a TV or a computer monitor, I get the same thing: "the signal is not supported, please try changing the resolution". However, I don't really get any options to do this on either the TV or the monitor.

Yeah you need to scale the image to something the tv supports. That would be the ossc.

But honestly the board may also be outputting 480i right now and if you could adjust the resolution to 240p it might just work like that. Got a friend with a crt tv that accepts vga, or a crt computer monitor?

ossc will probably need you to send 240p anyway. Mine did

I don't have one but I'll search for one. So you think it's worth it for me to get the OSSC anyway? Is the 1.5 version suitable?

There are 2 different versions which are fully update-able to the latest.

One has a DVI port the other has an HDMI and is supposed to pass audio through it (debatable)

Both are of equal value. I would recommend buying though VGP so Marqs the creator can have a minor commission.

I got the video to work with a cheap converter I bought off Amazon a while back. However, I don't have audio. What troubleshooting steps should I take to fix that?

Nice. Be sure to set it to 240p in the test menu! I think it’s on the video test modes, listed as progressive vs interlace.

No audio? How is the audio wired, rca from the pcb into the speakers?

Do you know how I would get to the test menu? My converter's instructions talks about that but doesn't exactly show me how to do it. Actually, I don't have audio plugged in separately. Doh!

The board has four RCA slots. Two white and two red. I need to buy some rca cables so I'll do that tomorrow. The TV has one red and white slot each.

The video does give off an adjustment like jitter every couple seconds too. I don't want to fix that until I know I can get the audio working.

Test mode on the pcb! Check page 2 of the manual.

Yeah but some rca cables. Either red/white pair on the pcb will work

How do I actually flip the test switch? I dont see a way to do it.

Nvm. I got test mode running. With or without RCA cables, I can't get either stereo or mobo to come out of the TV speakers. Moving the speaker control wheel in either direction doesn't either. I wonder if it's the converter that's causing this since I don't have audio hooked up to that.

Snap some photos of your wiring, maybe I’ll see something

I'm not home so I'll grab photos late tonight.

In the mean time, here are the products I have connected:

The TV: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M2BWNUO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Converter: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01IBJCAIG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Power Supply: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01C5E8W3K/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The VGA ends go from the PCB to the Converter and from the Converter to the TV. The RCA cables go from the PCB to the TV.

Can you connect something else with RCA cables to your TV to make sure the problem isn't there?

Looks like the rca input audio is for the component video input. The vga input takes a stereo 1/8” audio cable. You’re using vga from the converter to the tv yeah?

Adecco LLC 3.5mm Gold 1/8 Stereo Mini Jack Male to 2 Female RCA Adapter Audio (Male to 2 Female) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01ET3Y2SO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_4vgPDbYRC5J00

or switch to the component video input

Oh, that makes sense. I can run that to the TV and then connect that to the RCA cables. Just ordered one.

I can also try a test with a different device with those RCA cables tonight. May not work though because you're right about the RCA input being in line with the component.
