Hi All,

Please post the CF card brand and size you have found to be compatible with the NAOMI CF Reader. Especially, post those that have been found to be incompatible. I am going to take a dive into this NAOMI stuff. I would like to get 3 or 4 cabs up and running on NAOMI systems. Would hate to go far into this and find myself troubleshooting issues because of an incompatible card. Thanks!

Brand:

Working (yes/no):
Games List:

Delkin Devices 512mb

Part number CF51SAWHP-FD000-D

Doesn't work as card ID is "00 00" so can't use program to transfer image.

I'm sticking with epr-21578g not a black screen yet. I got making cf cards down to a science now...various brands/sizes of compact flash cards, none has failed since i figured it all out.
Then please share your knowledge with the rest of the members please :) What cards work for you and which don't? What should a noob user take into account?
Thanks.
I've been at it all day making cf cards...here is how i do it...I know i can do all this on one pc, just more convenient this way.

My setup is 2 computers a old dell with xp for getting the security key with Naomi cf..the other win 7.

win 7 i format the card with hddguru quick format i use this because it wipes mbr and data.
Then take card out and put in right back in for windows to ask to format select yes format (quick) to fat32 even if it's 512mb or 128mb.

Then i put it in xp CF Compact Flash Adapter (IDE) while it's powered off...
power the pc on,wait for it to get in to windows open up Naomicf.exe get the security key.

once that is done i power down xp then insert the card in windows 7 pc and open up Naomi cf put the security key i just got into
the program pick a game then flash.

I have had all sorts of trouble with those 512mb transcend cards. I avoid them like the plague. The 512 ciscos tend to work well for me.

I have had all sorts of trouble with those 512mb transcend cards. I avoid them like the plague. The 512 ciscos tend to work well for me.
at first i had issues with them then i use hddguru to erase them.
The Kingston 4gb cards keys are all 2020 and then the Transcend were all 3075 so i thought each one is different.I was using a different cf reader on win 7 it was giving like the same numbers randomly . So i moved to the xp route with a new ide reader, really why i went to xp was to use smart monitor tools which gave me 0000 all the time.
so if you don't wipe the mbr naomicf will keep putting in the key code you put in when the card was made.

Only thing is the thread started with folks having issues with Netbooting rather than using CFboot. You wouldn't happen to have a Netdimm handy to test the same would you?
I do...(Naomi 2)in all honestly it works i don't touch it...it boots everything Aw conversions all of them through TransferGame.
Only issue i had was one day i turned it on and got (error netdimm timeout) could not get in test mode or anything till i
took memory sticks out of another netdimm (2x256mb) and was able to get it going. I upgraded the ram from 512mb to 1024mb for Melty Blood Actress Again
No clue as to what happened but i fixed it. :/

I agree with mitsu, cisco cards have always served me well for various projects.

Hi all,

Trying to create some CF cards but keep getting this error "ERROR: Security Sector Patch"

I am using an IDE machine to get the code and a USB CF reader to copy the files.

I have successfully made cards before but I seem to be stuck with these new cards =(

These are the 512 CF cards I bought: http://www.ebay.com/itm/LOT-TOPRAM-...hash=item4d34b726bf:m:mratDUt302OL4_LNvR4CH0g

Am I just out of luck with these cards? I have tried 5 of them all with the same issue.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Never head of those card working. Cisco cards and other name brand cards are more reliable. Although, one user reported issues with Cisco cards. Transcend cards are black listed too.

See if you can repeat the process with your known working cards. And if it does work, then you know it is the card and will have to start from scratch. If your known good card also don't work, you might have a shot to troubleshoot further. We can also add these to the blacklist once you confirm the outcome. Sorry bud. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the reply!

Got the cards to write without the error on a Windows XP machine with the USB CF reader "was trying to use a Windows 10 machine before". Unfortunately I get an error while trying to launch "Error 26 Option Board Malfunctioning" =(

Sucks! I have used these cards before and have about 15 games on them, I guess something must have changed in the manufacturing process?

I will try writing to one of my old cards tomorrow and report back.

Thanks!

I've used those with success. Usually if I begin getting random errors like that I can fix it by doing a hard reset of the computer. If the cards will not do the full memory check, game load, memory check routine then error 26 it usually means the cards are bad. If it does all of the above and gives you the error 26 after the second memory check then that usually means a bad write/incorrect data.

Not sure if anyone has tried this before... I was pretty shocked to find out that it actually worked really well!

CF to SD adapter :)

http://www.frys.com/product/7072941?source=google&gclid=CNalnre90NQCFZSPfgodeqYLqQ

Both of these cards worked below with the use of microSD to SD adapter.

https://www.walmart.com/product/23756059

https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Class-microSDHC-Memory-Adapter/dp/B001EHHVPA

I used my IDE CF card reader and NaomiCF to get the security code (surprised th CF to SD adapter had this) the code was "2020"

But, my IDE CF card reader didnt want to flash using naomiCF. "Error: security sector patch" So i used my usb CF reader to flash with instead since i had the security code. Many CF cards suffer from this as well, but usually this is the workaround :)

To my surprise, this worked :)

In fact, loading was faster. For some reason, when i use the sd cards, my games load after the first power up on my naomi 2. Where as most of my CF cards require 2-4 power cycles for some weird reason.

The 2 cards below i was unable to get naomiCF to even recognize. They are not microSD. Just the standard size. For now, i'm under the impression the gb size might be the issue. But i plan to test others.

kingston sdhc class 10 16gb

Sandisk ultra sdhc class 6 16gb

Let me know if you have any questions. Also, if anyone has memory stick duo or pro duo sitting around, this might be worth trying...

@far327 good to know brotha. CF cards are getting scarce; SD cards, not so much. The real question is if we were to build a reader from something like this, would it work outright without needing a CF to SD adapter? Or does the Naomi only accept game data input from CF media?

i was about to order a couple of those for tests - one 40pin and one 44pin

first target, my atari area51 pcb's :)
second target - megatouch! :)

if the chinese monitor these forums, it would be better with a micro-sd socket.
one less adapter to go bad that way.

I have had all sorts of trouble with those 512mb transcend cards
Interestingly I've bought about 30 of them for use with G-NET and I think I had 1 card that wouldn't boot out of all of them.

I haven't tried any with NAOMI though.
