I currently have a CSI2010 with leads I bought separately (the supplied leads were garbage). Works for 90% of what I do, but I needed to test a mosfet and I can't tell whether it's dead or my DMM doesn't have what's needed.

So either if someone can tell me if mine is good for the job, or if someone can suggest a reasonably priced alternative, I'd appreciate it!
 
buy a component tester like a TC1.

even if you powered the gate with a 9v battery and resistor it wouldnt tell you much other than it was switching.
you wont find a multimeter that uses more than 4v anyway, it's limited to stop people damaging semiconductors.
