What's new
The powder coater/blasters requoted me @ $400 per cab and accessories doubling my original quote of $800 for all four.

I was bored waiting and still haven't seen my Blast and Astro chassis back yet so I decided to pull PSU and wiring and roughly test one of the monitors recapped by @rewrite.

Here is his Solder job on one of my Aero City Chassis'issess's

The image on the Cherry Master seemed to be a bit bloody and and misconverged. My guess is the Arcade op tuned it with the old capacitors and may need some yoke ring adjustment and I didn't have time for proper warmup before deguassing.

The shop I was at was 0 degrees F and I didn't even like testing below freezing electronics.

It is much brighter and more colorful and gives me hope that I can fine tune it.

Here is a 3 in 1 test board playing.

The x4 Aero City bodies and panels should be back from powder coating by end of next week and I'm super excited about it.

I will have to call Sharp Image Repair to ask about when to expect the Blast and Astro Chassis.

Ill post pics of the rest of the monitor tests.

I feel like I will finally be able to enjoy some video games in the next 2 weeks.

What's a Cherry Master?

I have news everyone.. The powder coater killed it..

They were originally gonna shove it all in one rack but used three of them to make sure the finish was not bumped.

Here you are. Take a deep breath of brand new finish on on 30 year old machines.

I recommend everyone get something to sip on before browsing these pics.

Inside the cabs

I threw in a couple Blast city panels and coin doors

Top marquees are looking nice and white

New white front panels

They even coated the coin boxes to a fresh white

The cab sides and my watch reflection

Control Panels

This sandblasting and powder coating has given me much more confidence for the rest of the repair process.

That looks crazy clean!

Also, they took care when sandblasting the top marquee. It's actually really flimsy after you remove the plexiglass.

The powder coaters finished the speakers and the chrome pieces (Foot rests Yen slot, Back handles) and even coated the black rectangle in the CP.

I spent a couple scrubbing the transparent top plate underside to turn brown into beige white. Here is a pic of sunlight before assembly.

Two toppers ready for attachment:

Lemme know how they handled the chrome pieces. I figured sandblasting and coating them was a no-no.

It depends on if you want to go the extra mile. My powder coater said he did not have a chrome pot so it would have to be powder coated chrome.

There was a couple spots of run but I like the carpet matching the drapes overall. I will post the pics when they are reinstalled in the process.

This has got to be the best Aero City(s) on the planet right now!

I guess at 800 1600 for all 4 to be powder coated, it's not as bad as I would've thought. I doubt you would get that price here in AU.

Nice work there @hoagtech!

It's nice to see the love for the old stuff!

One day if I get out of collecting I'd like to sell to someone who has that level of appreciation.

:)

wish I had you pick up my aeros I would of paid you to redo mine also. They look so nice.

Excellent, thanks for the info. I’ve been slowly working on an Aero restore and this project is very inspiring.
