Hello guys.. complete newbie to mod.. Syntax helped me with the newbie questions over PM...

I am looking to RGB MOD my Pelco monitors.. Bellow are pictures of one of the units chassis and the one that i will be using for testing (the screen has a scratch, F-up during shipping on this one).. I would like to use SCART on the monitors.. Please take a look at the pictures and let me know what is the best to go about it...If rising the legs on the RGB-in line on the jungle chip is best or somewhere else..

also -
Please recommend a link to buy wires, resistors and caps and scart pin head connector etc..

Pelco PMC21A TDA8842 S1

"All you need is 75R resistors and 100n caps and your done.

3 wires RGBS with resistors to ground and caps inline
1 wire blanking with resistor to ground
1 wire sync
2 wires audio
1 wire ground. "

parts -

This one takes 4ever to get so order this in advance if going Scart

I know @cruzlink2 has done quite a few of these rgb input mods before on different sets, maybe he can get these done for you?!

That IC comes in a few variants, so need to check if yours has the one alternate input that can be used, if not, not sure if its only/main rgb input can be used.

thanks Derick2k for the feedback.

I could use someone’s help here please...
From watching YouTube videos on RGB molding TVs, I have not found a video that shows how they find 5v from the Main board for the blanking..

I need to get 5v from the pelco MB.. I have not figured out from where to get the 5v.. how can I find out? Is there a way to use a multimeter and where should I look.. does the pelco need to be tuned on for this? please take a look at the google docs link below which has pictures of the mother board.. thanks

Do you have the rest of the schematic, or just that snippet?

Meh, just get a component input CRT and a SCART to component adapter.

I tried getting schismatics from the web and pelco but no dice.. I can take better pics of the main board.. but what you see is the main board which is not big..

I have not started the mod because I am waiting on scart plugs which are coming from China..

the RGB mod of the pelco is to put them on the cute repo at some time..and also to learn how to RGB mode any CRT TV for monitor replacement..

and also to learn how to RGB mode any CRT TV for monitor replacement
but what I'm saying to you is why bother? a CRT with component input and a SCART to component adapter requires no modification and the final image quality would be nearly indistinguishable (colors might be slightly richer having avoided the YUV color space encoding) from each other.

I sold my Blast City with a 27" Panasonic component CRT inside it with a JROK encoder (600$).
Didn't have to mod shit, and it wouldn't have made much if any difference at all if I had.

The only 20-21” with components that I have seen are flat and they don’t appear that often.. I’m looking for curve like the pelco’s and there is something with the brightness on those monitors that do not hurt my eyes..

Yeah, component usually means flat as well.

We have a lot of flat 19 out here, but it's harder to find curved ones under 27 now.

I've never even heard of Pelco, that's why I was hoping for the schematic.

The Panasonic I mentioned was bubble glass (not pure flat) the tube was manufactured by RCA and matched the Blast City's bezel almost perfectly.
I haven't hunted for tube TVs for years now (thank god) but they really don't seem to be at all rare around here at all.

What's your general plan for hooking up to this TV? Are you going to be connecting a board directly to this? Are you going to be using SCART? If so, it turns out, SCART has a blanking pin already, most consoles put a 5v on that pin anyway. The minigun supergun also does this as well. You would just need to tie that blanking point to the pin in the SCART connector. You only need to tie it high all the time if you never want to use it for anything non-RGB again (if you're using BNC and not SCART basically). To be specific I have personally tried a SNES, a NES, a Genesis, an N64, a PC Engine, and the minigun. They all blank correctly using SCART through a gscartsw. More importantly, what are you planning to do for sync? If you insist on tying it high all the time, try to find an inductor (marked with an L on the schematic) that is after that VCC pin (VCC should be 5v but check with a meter).

Did you find out which chip the monitor has? Does it take an alternate rgb input? Or are you hijacking the main input? Can you post some pics of the Pelco MB?

@ebzero89 - I am planning on using a female scart and connect a MiSTer (scart) and GroovyMame..I did not know about the console 5v.. the issue is that I am a total newbie at this.. I am watching a lot of YouTube videos on mod RGB TV and they all mention getting 5v from the TV main board for the blinking or maybe I am miss understanding them on the videos. All the YouTuber get a nice diagram but they don’t show step by step what to do and where to buy stuff.. I will document everything as a go for newbies like me and where to buy with links..

I will have to go back and look at the scart diagram to see to which pin the blinking cable from the chip needs to go..

You know if you can get the full schematic you can probably do this non destructively. A lot of the YouTube videos use the snipping and pull up method that removes the osd and so on. You don't have to directly inject into those pins is the point. Just to the non ground side of a resistor in line with the pin. MarkOZLAD on the shmups forums has a general overview schematic in his signature in the rgb mod thread there.

I have been looking for schematic for the monitor and no luck.. I also opened a case with Pelco... no go..I will see how it goes.. I did picked up a philips TV that has the a different version of the chip...so that will be my test bed.. I already took out the chassis... just waiting for the female scart and a few things to arrive..
