Can anyone of you guys do an IC test with a known good 74LS393 (please indicate your software version too).

I've received new ones but they all fail the IC test so two possibilities:
1) there's a bug in the TOP3000 software for that specific IC (I've tested almost all other TTL chips and the test does work)
2) I received fake/faulty parts.

Many thanks.

The parts I've received are probably good then.

Thanks @AlxUnderBase!

To choose 27c4001 (equivalent to 27c400), go to the chip selector in Top3000, choose EPROM, under manufacture choose "?" (or whatever the generic option is), you should see 27c4001 in the list.

success to write those 27c400 with my top3000 with the profile mentioned by Apocalypse (witch is : MXC4100) ... all awesome sir ! Thanks for reply  . i will try the chips to see if the conversion will be fine with them :whistling: .

What's the deal with Top3000 and 27c4001?
Tried one Eprom and I could not write because of an error so I bought another Eprom thinking my old Eprom was the problem but the same thing happens:

-Pool Pins warning windown
-Ignore
-Write
-Error at 2000

Has this happened with anyone else?

Pool pin warning means programmer has detected a floating pin. Usually happens if pin isn't inserted properly in the socket or is dirty or the chip has internal damage.

Exactly as Apocalypse says, start by ensuring all pins are straight and are clamped in the socket ok

@Apocalypse ... sir, did you know any profile from Top3000 provided for 4002 & 4096 witch will work with "Sony CXK 27c4002D" ? i didn't have success to write it (tryied all of them --- for "4002" are 2 if i remember) and tried 4096 ones to see if they work for this chip ... no luck with them too for this cxk chip . in top3000 i've seen for this " Sony CXK" only 256 & 512 ones...further than that...nothing. Thank you :saint:

@AlxUnderBase unfortunately there's no compatible profile for 27C4002 because the morons whose designed it thought it would be great to have to raise Vcc to 6.25V during programming. As far as I know it's the only chip in the 27C range requiring that.
In fact very few programmers support it, maybe my Dataman can but not sure I've kept any of those stupid 27C4002s.

good to know ... if somebody want them for free ... i will send them . now i know what kind of 4096 & 4002 i can write with top3000 . so far , so good with this with what chips i have on hand . i didn't knew he have support for non-jedec 301's [support if you put the 301's chips or equivalent in an adapter - (can be one like) who can help the programmer to write succesfully the chip] . you have right about him, have support for many chips ,but for me , as a newbie , it's great. I like the "ST" and seems Top3000 have support for this chip with many variants of him.

Cheers guys. I've asked here same thing .When you proceed to write GALs -> (GAL16V8B - i have as spare another 2 or 3 Gal16 unused ) , did you have any success for this ? For GAL22V10 i've used everythings goes fine. Only doubts are about GAL16V8B because after i write dates on it , i "read" the chip and the dates seems are not the same as what i've charged for initial write. It is normal ? Thanks you

Ps : Are these GAL16V8B chips eraseble ? Can i reuse a used one ?

I'm using a TOP3000 with ver8.37 (2018-02-04) software on Windows 10 and all SN74LS164N I test on it including NOS always test bad.

For programming and reading 27c400 I always set it to 27C800 and ignored the 2 floating pins that do not exist.
Then just either doubled the binary or split it depending on the use.

Always have problems writing GAL16V8A with it complaining about power issues but GAL16V8D seem to work just fine.

with my Top3000 with 8.80 version (here is if you want to update your firmware - i'm using win10 too) i don't have any issues about writing, verifying and programing the 27c400 or 27c800 . i don't know how to use it properly to write corectly the GAL16V8B chips .
