sooo, today I became the lucky owner of not one but 2 sega megalo 410. graciously given to me by someone.
i have been looking for all info I can find to bring these babies back to life. so far I have learnt that finding a screen for them is the greatest challenge.
yes both dont have the original projection screen. I do have the from mirror and 1 trapeze looking mirror.
so my question to whoever can help is:

what are my option in terms of display. I will really love to be able to do some 15khz gaming on it but if it is not possible is fine.
here are some pictures to give you more context.

I'm also missing the half cover for the bottom on both cabinet. so if anyone has any lead or ideas.

thank you for all the input.

We spoke on FB IM.....I didn't know they were missing that much....at this point...it's LCD's, put in the front glass pieces...and then make a black bezel to put behind it, with the cutout shape of whatever size LCD screen you get.

Thats probably the best you are gonna get, given all they are missing.....Still...that's two cabinets linked head to head for a Steam PC,Playstation or Xbox...or two cabs running different systems....not a terrible life, certainly not for free.

Would a Pioneer or Hantarex 40" plasma screen fit in these?
would allow some very nice 15k - 31k gaming that way

the guy I got it from tried a pioneer and it was too big.I guess I can look into the hantarex

Fabricate mounts for a 36" Trinitron CRT. Talk to metal fabricators or whatnot. That's what I did for my 32" Trinitron showcase cab.

There's nothing to mount to, you'd essentially be building a stand in the base if you wanted to do something like that. Like a table to set it on or something.

Hopefully you can get them up and running. Even a decased Pioneer v402 is too big. Thank you for leaving the blanket (since it wasn't mine).

Looks like there's a metal chassis running along the perimeter on the inside. Is the body metal or plastic? If metal, the body is an option as well. I just have a jury-rigging mindset :)

Always baffles me what people do with these, as whenever they come up for sale the critical parts are always missing.

As I said on facebook fresnel lenses are missing and obviously you're missing a mirror assembly.

Any chance of a pic showing the other side of that mirror? I'm wondering if it actually has the proper frame behind it given its not the correct shape.

If I were you Id fabricate a slimline surround bezel to sit behind the glass and mount rear projection fabric to that, problem solved. Just as the guy did on the 50" rear projection cabinet did in the vac thread I linked on Facebook. If you wanted to have both rear projection you'd need to fabricate a second mirror holder but that would be be a case of copying the existing one if it is indeed behind that mirror in the picture.

Cause the seller that gave them away for free got them that way as the rest of the parts never came as promised to him.

I'll leave it at that, not gonna stir drama.

I thought of this because I have this trinitron that I got for free but I think it it too long front to back.

You sure? It will be shallower without the case. Besides, you can fab something to make it work.

I not really good with fabrication, so right now I'm thinking of the most efficient and cost effective way to restore them and make people be able to enjoy them. 2 cabs this size to restore can quickly become very expensive.
here are the photos

Yeah that's fair enough, cost should always be a factor in any project I suppose you just need to determine your budget and desired outcome.

For me personally the main draw of the megalo 410 is the fact it has a massive 4:3 screen. Sorting the projection screen wouldn't be that difficult it sounds more daunting than it is, you could literally make a frame with some thin timber, or even better thin aluminium/steel, thinner the better to maximise screen size.
The most expensive part of all of it will be the projector itself.

Looking again that does look like the correct mirror, slightly trapezoid.
Cutting a mirror isn't difficult, making the frame would be a pain but easy for a fab shop.
Again depends if you'd want to fork out for two projector setups, costly yes but side by side would be awesome.

Also the Megalo410 video on youtube with the BenQ MW632ST, the build thread for that is here

This is the route I've gone. Just need to fabricate a mount at this point. It looks /super/ promising held up with books and boxes, haha.
