Hello,

I recently get a CPSIII with CD Drive but when I powered up it in my Supergun it was nothing on the screen (black screen).

I saw a hit in the rear CD Drive

Maybe there is a missing jumpers to make it works fine... I have no idea, or maybe needs a more powerfull power supply. I'm using a Suzohapp.

Could anybody helpme, please?

Kind regards.

The most common issue with CPS3 are clean contacts from the cart. Try cleaning these areas with alcohol and a little brush. I have to use a stiff piece of cardboard to cart the cart and the insert area. It also doesn't hurt to double check your voltages. +5v is the most important.

Thanks for your reply.

I bought it in working condition (the seller sent to me pics) and the cart was not removed from the board.

There must be something wrong with that the jumpers or my power supply...

It's not the jumpers. Even if they were messed up you would still see a boot screen telling you a CD drive error. A black screen is probably a dirty pins on a cart or a dead cart. Maybe it could voltage issue too like you mentioned. Make sure you get a solid 5volts by using a meter with the board connected. Worst case scenario is the motherboard is dead

5V volts are fine... I cleaned the cart contacts... but it stills not working...

The images the seller sent to me were a cutting top and bottom gameplay screens from Street Fighter III game. Could be that a symptom of a cart issue being about to stop working??

Post pics of your whole set up. Are you plugging in the molex power cable from the cd drive to the board? Is your scsi cable plugged in correctly? They usually have a little stripe indicating which side is which

12V are good too?

black screen mean it most likely suicide. I would carefully clean the cart edge and reseat

12V?? Usually, 5V is a correct voltage to make it work, isn't it?

I did it, but black screen appears again...

I would like to be the cart but I have seen that there is some garbage images on the screen when is the suicide cart issue, and I only have a black screen... It's very weird...

I have seen black and garbage. It all depend on cart and mobo combo. Battery cart are very sensitive. If it was plugged in the mobo during shipping there is a good chance the cart got jolted just right to suicide, sadly. Even with no cd drive or simm plug in you should see an error message.

Yes, I plugged all correctly. CD drive works but I have no idea if the sensor reading is working fine... CD drive was sent from USA to Spain with the CD inside... could it be hurt??

The cart is dead. You will have to change it to superbios or return it to original seller

Mainboard or game cart dead?? Original seller says it was working in his arcade machine and cannot help me...

Yup, that sounds like a dead cart. Do you have anyone in your area that you can get to test your cart on their mobo?

If you paid the seller through ebay, or paypal goods and services, I'd start a claim now. If the seller is unwilling to help you, you don't have much choice but to escalate the issue. If you paid through paypal Friends & Family, then you're kinda screwed.

Nop. If your 12V are off, then the sound won't start, plus the CD driver and your system won't boot. It happens sometimes with me.

I have no cart to test my MOBO.

I have noone who has a CPS3 around...

Yes, I started a claim through eBay, but I understand that seller sold me in working condition, I will ask him a partial refund for the game cart only.

Can be the cart repaired changing the battery or something like that??

But my CD driver runs, so I understand that 12V are fine...

Do you have a multimeter? Check it.
If it's ok, you can start to think about a new cart or SUPER BIOS.
