Hello,

In my understanding, smart monitoring tools is capable to pull out of a complact flash the 2 security bits needed to write it using naomiCF via IDE or PCMCIA ports and it doesn't work on USB adapters.

My question is, does anybody knows if it works when SATA or expresscard adapters are used?

Thanks in advance.

If your trying to read the media id from CF cards the only way I could do it was with either an IDE->CF adapter or a PCMCIA->CF adapter when I tried using a SATA->CF one all I got was 0000 for the card id.

thanks for the heads up!

Once upon a time, there was an experimental fork of the smart tools for linux that was able to pull the ID from cards off USB... I'll see if i can track it down again, while likely unwieldily for most people, requiring direct PCMCIA/IDE access is a bit meh.
