Picked up a Waku Waku 7 cart for MVS a little while back. Was playing it at getting a pretty odd screen where some text is all messed up. Thinking it is a rom chip issue. Plays fine, sounds find, just text character issues. No visible issues on the board and tried cart on multiple boards and slots. Same look every time. Any suggestions?

check the traces from the s1 ROM to the cart pins. If traces are fine you need to dump the s1 and compare it to the MAME set.

So finally got some time to work on this. Traces were all good but I did notice one pin on S1 was bent down to a trace. See attached image and red circle. Once I got that pin back up, put cart back together and everything was working. Really not sure how that pin got bent but happy to have my game back and without jacked up text.

Glad you got it fixed, that's weird though that it got bent in the shell.

Agreed. My only thought is it got bent by previous owner when they took pics of the boards to verify authenticity.
