As a shower thought today, It occoured to me that the Lindbergh was the end of startup noises for Sega's arcade hardware.

Does anyone know if there was a concious decision to stop making them, or if they just sort forgot about it?

I wounder what the Lindbergh or Ringedge startup noises would sound like...

I would suspect that non-PC based hardware still have startup sounds, no?

When I worked as an arcade tech the chorus of all the machines making their start up sounds was my favorite part of my daily routine. My favorite was always the Tekken because they wished you "Good Morning" .

it looks like even the newer releases still do that.

Tekken3 has the best IMO. It's beefy and makes the cabinet rock. Catches me off guard all the time.
