Because if it is, I would love to ditch the current adapter on it.

EDIT: nevermind, looks the same as the one @AlxUnderBase is getting. So I guess yes.
 
i prefer wired adapters, they put less stress on the gameboard and edge connectors than a long line of rigid parts.

So I played the game and around level 46-50 the game resets.
Played it again and twice in a row, resets again.

"let's check the upper half of the roms?" I thought

then I see this

to which point I am like ... wait isn't there a ram test or something since I can play half the game right?

yup. 256kb is indeed half of 512kb !
turned the dip to on and made it to level 60

I felt really dumb but moral of the story: look for the easy stuff before changing 6 x 28 pins sockets!

well I lied.
I still resets :(
Twice in a row when a big diamond falls/appears, in level 50 something.

Guess I'll put more sockets or if somebody has ideas, I am all ears !
 
redux_bb4 and redux_bb3 are different... and since they have a nice printed label, I didn't checked them yesterday.
currently erasing 2 x 27256 to give it a try...

Just like the game, this rom set has many secrets it seems. it's different cause it had the "free play" patch.
The mame bb4 and bb3 I burned doesn't have free play but I made it to level 69 (nice!) without resetting, and getting 2 of these big diamonds, which appears after you've gotten 3 crosses btw, and we died at the same time, ending the game...

there appears to be a "continue fix", a "level skip" and a "free play" patch. I'll sort it out and post it back here.


edit: I didn't find the free play yet but these are incremental patches from the original release's readme:

1) level_skip -> Allows skipping the current level by pressing both P1 and P2
start buttons. Keep them pressed for skipping to even higher levels!

2) game_continue -> Wait a few seconds for coin/start buttons to be pressed
before the game is over.

3) score_save -> Automatically saves the high score table. This happens
after entering the player initials, once the screen goes all black.
This patch requiresreplacing the EPROM #4 (bb4) with an Atmel AT28HC256 or
AT28C256 chip and re-routing the socket pins as follows: board socket pin 1
should be left unconnected; board socket pin 27 should be connected to chip
pin 1; chip pin 27 should be connected to the WR signal from the main Z80 CPU,
which is accesible at the board via located near the lower right edge of the
EPROM #4 board socket; all other socket pins should be connected to the same
chip pins. This may be easily accomplished by using a couple "stamped" type
28-pins sockets stacked together, where pins 1 and 27 of the top socket are bent
and soldered to a couple solid wires to route the signals as described. Note
that it is possible to reset the saved scores by setting the bank #1 DIP
switch 1 to off and 3 to on and turning on the game, which should now display
the Color Grid screen. By pressing P1 Start, the Input and Sound Test screen
will be displayed. Select sound code 255 and press P1 Start again to reset the
score table.
NOTE: The incremental patches need to be applied in the order above.



re edit: found the the free play patch .... which is a patch of a patch ... and made by a guy I know! small world! and he said he tested it to level 50 ... so yeah, they are suspect #1 !

reburned continue fix + level skip incremental patches and will try again and again to see if they are ok.

Last edit: the « continue fix + level skip (which worked) resetted after level … 2. So i went back to what’s in mame and :
