SO...on a Toshiba PF D29C051 in NNC.

15Khz boards a dim, everything is displayed correctly, but the image is just dim/dull
31Khz, works great, nice bright image no issues.

Testing with,
Atomiswave 15/31khz - 15k is dim / 31k is bright
Naomi 2 15/31khz - 15k would not sync (need to retest) / 31k bright beautiful pic
Have also tested other jamma boards using a jammafier and 15khz looks dim

Im using the vga dsub to connect to the monitor.
I have also tried adjusting brightness and seems there is no effect on 15khz on 31khz it does adjust.

Does the chassis have some type of reset/default setting to return all levels to factory, etc..??

Any ideas on the brightness issue?

I think it saves two sets of configurations, one for 15khz and the other for 31khz. Is your brightness and contrast settings maxed out on 31khz? Do the settings max out at 100?

Do you have the stock remote, a prebuilt 'extended one' or have you modded yours? There's extra levels of brightness and contrast that you can unlock on some chassis (not all I think):

Anyway, if your 31khz settings are maxed, I would turn those down to 70%, and then adjust the screen pot.

I got one of the prebuilt extended menu remote board. Will try adjusting the levels and report back.

A tri-sync helper from @invzim solved this problem on my NNC. 15khz is as bright as 31khz.
Everything looks pornographic <3

Are you guys using the tri-sync helpers with or without the switch at the bottom. And if with the switch, what position is it on? I have tested with the later revision without the switch and it does not work for me to resolve the dim pic issue in 15khz.

Switch is set to HVS

Don’t forget to give the tri-sync some 5v juice from your jammafier.
Mine has a switch. Older versions need a blob of solder.

I believe I have one of them with the switch on it, gotta find it and give it a go to see if it fixes the issue.

What's your chassis? I have 9929 and I thinked like you I made a full capkit/clean better brightness for 15 and 31 khz but 15 khz always less birhgtness than 31khz. My g2 was at minimal position I touch it very little and britgness increase (very strong versus very little move) but same thing.
So after lot of search my conclusion is not an issue, Toshiba PF D29C051 with chassis 9929 have an intrinsic brightness difference between 15 & 31 khz. It's not a problem it's easy to find a optmimal brightness level for all.

For me it's to attenuate RGB signal and I observe a cleaner picture very nice and sharp but a little more darkness so I must up some of degre the brigthness.

Seems Im not the only one and its more or less a common issue. I will have to retrace the last things I did and get back to it, but yeah I could not get it to adjust brightness on 15k.

@Derick2k @ark125

I had the same issue with my New Net City.
It has a D29C051 Display and a PD2367 chassis. I had tested with a Jammafier v2.0 with video/sync conditioning and with a Axunworks Jamma to JVS converter.
31kHz looked perfect but 15 kHz was extremely dim. Some games where completely dark. When i turned up the screen pot on the flyback it got brighter but still totally washed out.

I was able to adjust the brightness (range 50-100) but not nearly enough to make the image significantly brighter
I didn't matter if i did this in the normal or in the 'hidden' menu with the extended remote.
The contrast setting was alwas at 100. I couldn't adjust it via any of the OSD menus.
Interestingly the OSD was always bright enough. So i thought there could be an issue with the RGB signal before it is mixed with the OSD in the LM1269NA chip.

Yesterday i connected Tekken 3 via JVS/VGA for testing 15 kHz again.
I noticed in the games test menu that you can dial up the contrast quite a bit. The image was much brighter but still not enough.
So it was pretty obviously an contrast issue.

Today i found the solution. As @nem wrote and linked, there is an additional 'enable' for a higher brightness and contrast range.
So i bridged pins 38 and 42 on the remote connector and tried again.
Guess what? The contrast in the OSD for 15kHz was now shown as 0... Now this made sense.
I adjusted it to about 70 and now 15kHz games look fantastic.

Somehow the value must have been 'locked' in a non-adjustable state without the bridge between pin 38 and 42 (GND)
I am very happy with the picture quality. This is an awesome display.

@Starwarrior Great find! Just to understand (as I have these remotes in my webstore), you were unable to adjust contrast in the OSD, or did you just assume that it was on max as it showed 100?

@invzim Yes, the contrast setting was stuck at '100' in the OSD. I was not able to change it up or down. Every other setting worked fine.
I attached a picture i made. It perfectly synced but was so dark, you couldn't see the game. At first, i thought the chassis had problems.

As soon as i bridged pin 38 to gnd on the remote the OSD suddenly showed contrast as '0'. And now it is fully adjustable.

I wonder if there was some 'out of range for the standard remote' adjustment done in the factory or in the field with a service remote for the 15kHz mode.

Your Jammafier is really great by the way. ;)
