Hi. I would like to know what memory types I have to buy for making my Last Bronx into a Sonic the Fighters/Championship (I would prefer the japanese version). I can't find all the information I need.

Model 2BCRX Virtua Striker to Sonic The Fighters/Championship

Any 2b game works as the donor. I was going to conver a Virtua striker to last Bronx... send me your roms!

Rom sizes are in mame: https://github.com/mamedev/mame/blo...4fee0ecf190/src/mame/drivers/model2.cpp#L4379

You can look at the roms on your hard drive to see the size, and the image from above for pin-count do determine the exact chip, but off the top of my head it’s just going to be a lot of:

27c322 for 32m (0x400000)
27c160 for 16m (0x200000)
26c040 for 4m (0x080000) <--edit this needs a 40 pin device iirc so 27c4002, 27c4096

Hi, many of the memories are also a conversion, so it's not 100% original.

What type of configuration in ms do I have to write them? 50ms?

EDIT: many thanks for all!!!!!

As fast as whatever is in there already. Faster is better with these boards I’ve found, especially the program roms (“main cpu” in mame). I don’t think you’ll find 27c322 faster than 100ns

What’s “to the max”?

those sound fast enough. If it doesn’t work you could try 90ns 27c040 but I think I have some model2 running 120ns 27c040

Hi. These 27c040 memories are 32pin? I have 27c400 40pin.

I am watching the board, and it tells to me that they are 40 pin, not 32 pin.

@Tailsnic Retroworks sorry, i was just typing quickly I guess, that's a mistake. you do need 40 pin for this. i have some 120ns 27c4002 I think i'm using currently and haven't seen any issues

well 27c400 is 40 pin, 27c4001 is 32 pin. There are like 3 'families' of chips that handles 4mbit unfortunately https://wiki.arcadeotaku.com/w/EPROM

you need the 40 pin variety with a pinout like 27c240/27c4002/27c4096 for the sound roms for Model 2. I don't think the 27c400 has that pinout despite being 40 pin and capable of 16 bit. There may be jumper settings you could use to get them supported but I don't know what those are, I think the jumpers are for that family.

So, for using the original jumpers sequence of Sonic Fighters I need those 27c4002 memories, right?

Yes. I just converted a board TO last bronx and it was all 322’s, 160’s, and 4002’s. 240 and 4096 have the same pinout though so those work instead of the 4002

alright, I have just ordered many Mm27c4002 from china. Many thanks a lot. All the rest of memories (322 and 160) are just flashed and socketed.

Hi. I have burnt all the 27c160, 27c322 and 27c4002, but all I have is garbage. I will continue the project when I have a 15-24khz bifreq screen. I will inform you

have you changed the jumper settings?
Its mandatory. You can still hook it up to a 15khz monitor just to see if the games boot, it wont harm the monitor for just a few minutes

I have set the jumpers like the image in this thread:
Model 2BCRX Virtua Striker to Sonic The Fighters/Championship
Good :) Also, be sure that you burnt the right eeprom type for the IC15 and IC16 (the main program), they need to be 27c4096 or 27c4002 (100/120NS).
This is how your board should look like, if is not working, then you made a mistake by burning a wrong eeprom/wrong location/bad verify on programmer.
