Hi All,

I've started working on my own version of yet another Naomi 1 consolisation and starting a thread to document progress

Current progress: Internal network connector

SCSI, DB9 and ethernet port removed
RJ45 breakout board with connector installed
- PCB pins and spacers to clear the LAN transformer behind

Next stage is to quieten the fans then remove or move most, if not all, the filter board components.
Oh and make a few more tweaks to the netdimm case so that the interface card is held properly.

I know its a bit of work but are there any issues with moving the EMI components to the inside of the filter board?

Neat! Did you make that breakout yourself or pick it up from somewhere? Colour me interested in one!
Cheers.

Good point, I'll update the post now and future posts with part numbers.

The breakout is a sparkfun unit from digikey.

So today I swapped the fans only to be be greeted with no video output signal, awesome.

Replacement chassis fan is an Ebm-papst 612FL. Desoldered the 612FL wires and soldered in the wiring and plug from the original fan. Much quieter.

As recommended per the naomi wiki I replaced the CPU fan with a Noctua nf-a4x10-5v but when installed the Naomi will not boot. My Naomi 1 motherboard, case, CPU heatsink and fan connector placement are different to the Naomi in the wiki as well as most of the units on the internet so I'm wondering if the fan signal requirement is different. Maybe the board will work with a Naomi 2 style fan, more investigation needed.
Original CPU fan been changed with a generic before I obtained it and the Naomi boots fine with it installed.

These boards will run with a Naomi 2 style fan or just hot glue a San ace fan from a Naomi 1 on it . Same connector

You could try this trick on it:

Not the trick for this board it seems. No dice.

Naomi 1 White shell afaik.

Will be mounting the i/o board internally along with db15 ports facing forward and a db25 at the rear for future steering game mods.

This project is on hold and has been for a while as I have way to many other consoles that I'm messing with. There is never enough time.
