hi, is there any tips to get the dodonpachi 2 or any other PGM shmup work in normal classic tv without return it in tate mode ? I have a 65" oled placed on a piece of furniture and impossible to return it at this size.

OSSC pro may have this ability once it’s released. Otherwise you can run them horizontal in MAME

:(
Would like to play it in a real hardware. Maybe there is an option on the tv ?

No, but the ossc pro may be able to do it

Last I checked he was working on it mostly solo. It is still a ways off.

Not ideal but I made up a DB15 to DB15 adapter that rotates the stick input 90 degrees for vertical titles. The game still runs horizontal but now the controller matches the movements.

Available end of October so not so bad and they do free shipping.
Otherwise you can get the shells off ebay then buy the connectors and either solder or pin the wires but more work and cost.

Super cool idea, now that's thinking outside the box!

Maybe one of those would work?? That’s what I use on my Darius setup to flip the image..I don’t remember if it had the tate option but I think it does..members mentioned that it would add about a frame of lag to the setup but I have not been able to notice that.

If you look over at shmups.com there are many threads covering the options (I've asked a bunch of questions). I think this is one of the devices that will do it.

The big issue is how complex it is to do this, how many frames of lag it adds, and also the resolution limitations it could add.

I honestly feel the easy answer is the OSSC Pro. I know it's a wait, but to be honest, it will be a modern solution with the added benefit of the creator knowing that the purpose is to rotate for gameplay as well as minimizing lag, unlike these legacy systems which were often for commercial use and didn't really have a concern for lag related to gaming.

From the OSSC Pro thread, I think we are looking at mid next year for release with potentially another 6-8 months with user feedback dialing in the FW, after all the OSSC took a few years to get all of its FW updates.

Another option is to get the correct size covers and build your own adapters, see link below.
I've just swapped my grey covers above to the new black covers below, much nicer.

Fudoh had researched this a while ago http://yokotate.hazard-city.de/ as far as I know a cost effective low lag solution was never determined, most of the hardware he tested was made for commercial use in situations where lag was unimportant as XtraSmiley mentioned. I'd love a solution too, but it looks like the OSSC pro like others mentioned will be the best option to hold out for.

I have to use my smaller monitor for the tate games. Can't use the 65" LED on the wall.
