My ringedge 2 stopped putting out video. Further investigation and it actually is not posting upon power up, no beeps.

the CMOS battery is above 3VDC

When AC power is turned on power supply boots and all fans etc, then everything shuts off and green led on motherboard stays lit

What else could be wrong? Ram/cpu/going?

It's a long shot but clean your RAM and GPU edges like you would clean an MVS cart. Sometimes that'll straighten it out.

I will try cleaning.

but shouldn’t Mobo still post if ram/gpu not seen.

I have a new cpu and ram on order.

the no posting brings me back to my mega touch force , Mobo had same issue until I replaced cpu.

Try to connect a speaker ?

Also, check jumper position on top right angle (opposite of atx panel)

New cpu installed and same issue, will test ram next when it arrives.

mobo may be toast

ring series don’t seem that reliable

had I/o board that key chip and jvs connect to fail before also.

Yeah hold up before you go replacing stuff. The motherboards need to be reset with a jumper. There’s a thread around here (or find a japan or us manual). A few posts or reset button installed on those jumpers and you’ll be totally fine most likely. Give it a shot and let us know what happens! (I found this out the hard way. Lots of replacing and trial and error- found the thread and had it going within 3 minutes)

Did cmos reset previously and no luck

Also removed cmos battery for >10min then replaced and did jumper reset and nothing turns on (one green led on board lit) until I jumper pins 6/8 and all fans start rolling and 2 green led on logo lite up. Shortly after system shuts down to one green led and no fans again...

So that took several times for me. Several times powering up without a video card, ram, etc. After it reset, it worked fine. Just finicky.

Hopefully you get it figured out!

Looks like mobo is dead, have a few spare on order. Still going to try to get this one working tho.

Installed a PCI POST error display card and came up with these errors

Need to cross reference to the the AMI 686 error list

Found that upon boot from power down FF is displayed and system goes Into standby, if I connect a momentary switch to pins 6/8 on header and issue a long hold, release, then press again these other codes display, each after doing this reset cycle

Code 50 the system only will reset if main ac cord is pulled.

I am going to try a bios reflash. Seems it has been corrupted somehow.

So the RE2 has a known issue where a controller chip fails , i replaced bios with a new chip (flashed with re2 .bin bios file) and still no post. So issue is elsewhere on the mobo.

Apparently this is a issue w/ RE2 and ringwide bit not RE1

Bought some RE2 motherboards for a low cost to try out two had bent pins on the CPU slot so were useless, the third would not post just like my original re2 mobo.

Spent enough time and money fiddle dicking around and just ended up buying another RE2 to replace my Initial D server and now i have linked ID 6/7/8 again.

We will see how long this one lasts.
