Hello everyone, I was wondering if widescreen patches or hacks are possible for 246/256 games? I know there are widescreen options for certain PlayStation 2 games like the soul caliburs and tekken 5, and a very good widescreen patch for tekken 4, I wonder if it’s possible to bring them over for the arcade versions of those games and patch the dvd? I saw a hack for ridge racer v arcade battle that looked great!
I wonder if anyone has done it before?

It should in theory be possible, but no I don't believe I've ever seen a hack like this before.
I know a while ago an effort was underway to port the 256 version of Soulcalibur 2 to PS2 (I don't believe it was working however).

Yeah, it seemed that they only got the tittle screen for soul calibur 3 Arcade Edition working, but everything was just a mess lol. I was just wondering because it’s easier to make 3D models work in 16:9 than it is with 2D sprites. Thank you for your reply though, hope someone can figure out a way. I would like to play them in 16:9 without stretching everything :)

Hey, reviving this thread! I've been trying to do this for my Time Crisis 3 DX cab! And I believe it is very possible:
See https://twitter.com/steeve/status/1584192357737517056?s=20&t=5EnJsNaCzwVR3RFjRBx_3A and https://twitter.com/steeve/status/1584471380992544768?s=20&t=5EnJsNaCzwVR3RFjRBx_3A

Franco, I have been following your work with the Namco Rays + Time Crisis 3, I'll be trying to do the same. I'm still waiting on parts to try it on a real system (PS3 MC reader).
As a matter of fact, the offsets and values are in this post for Time Crisis 3 (TC3LOAD): https://twitter.com/steeve/status/1584533456570417152?s=20&t=5EnJsNaCzwVR3RFjRBx_3A if you wanna try it.

Yo! What the hell! TC3 arcade widescreen hack!!??? Oh I’m definitely going to try this soon! @steeve Do I edit the dongle or the DVD file and burn it to a blank disc? I do have the multi dongle and the original bin files, I could probably try this today.

Also, I recommend getting the Crisis Zone MIU pcb over the rays pcb as it’s more affordable/reliable unless you want to play vampire night.

Be aware though, the aim is off! I just discovered that!

I'm gonna try to fix it, although not sure yet how, but it seems doable.
Also, the TC3LOAD image comes from timecrs3-tst1vera.bin, but I can try my luck on timecrs3e-tst2vera.bin if you want.

The patch is, at offset 0x002d082e, replace 0x80 by 0x40.

The patch is, at offset
Code:
0x002d082c
, replace 0x80 by 0x40
That’s fine, I believe I have both versions in my dongle files folder but I’ll have to check. if you can, check the other versions out and let me know if the offsets are the same :)

Alright, for TC3LOAD of timecrs3e-tst2vera.bin, the offset is 0x002d302e, replace 0x80 with 0x40. Remember the aim is off!
For easier testing, the offset inside timecrs3e-tst2vera.bin itself is 0x00227CAE, same replacement: 0x80 -> 0x40.

I stand corrected with the offsets inside the TC3LOAD! These are EE addresses! Try it with the 0x00227CAE offset, which is inside the dongle image itself.

Awesome! I’ll check it out later today! Thank you! :D
