What's new
There's 3 revisions of Ace Attacker, my understanding is one has been decrypted the other 2 haven't yet been found by those who can crack them.

I believe it's necessary to have 2 boards working on battery to crack each game (I assume to ensure the code is the same across both)

If the already decrypted revision of Ace Attacker is the correct one for your ROM board you're good to go.

I think Time Scanner has been decrypted but it may not have been released so certainly if yours is decrypted it's absolutely worth dumping the ROMs so it can be added to MAME. Where are you located? If you don't have a programmer someone else may be able to help

Where is this decrypted revision of Ace Attacker, I can't see it.In MAME there are only two encrypted revisions with FD10954 CPU module ('317-0059' and '317-0060') .
To prepare a decrypted code you can start from an encrypted revision and decrypt all the keys. This is what Retroclinic and JunoMan can do quite easitly.

He is in Italy like me.Anyway, now I remember I should have a couple of Time Scanner with 68000 CPU on motherboard so program code should be not encrypted.

317-0061

317-0060 is listed as decrypted on The Guru's 16B listing
You mean the FD1094 module has been dumped perhaps.Anyway, there is still no decrypted set released.

Thanks for the dump but actually this not encrypted set is already in MAME, I didn't notice it since they put it in System16B driver while the encrypted one is in SYstem16A driver. Two GFX ROMs from your dumps didn't match any set, it's the ROM 'C121' and 'C124'.Try to clean the leg of the EPROMs and redump them.Anyway, you can erase your devices now.

On a side note I discovered this game has a protection system causing various effects like a specific disclaimer saying "this game has been copied without the authorisation of Sega" or replacing the "Sega 1988" copyright by "ESCO 1999" (11 years in the future at the time the game was launched).
I guess this ESCO easter egg is a reference to Esco Boueki (Esco Trading):
http://vocaloid.wikia.com/wiki/SEGA

Funny I discovered it so many years after game was lauched.

For those who wonder, yes I played the game to the end:

(Believe me that wasn't easy to beat the game using a keyboard, control scheme is quite complex).

Ok so i read that article and i see 'Robert Deith'
I had some Neo Geo stuff from "Deith Leisure" with stickers. Other collectors must have surely seen or had boards from them as well.

I've once read a tiny booklet about 'Ruffler and Deith' in the UK. It seems Robert Deith was a bigtymer.

"In 1972 he joined forces with Bill Ruffler to form a new machine distribution company, Ruffler and Deith, with offices at Putney, London, and several years later his started his own distribution company, Deith Leisure."

I should take some pics from that booklet, stuff was being sold off and a reporter from C+VG took a whole bunch of pics, like rows of Star Wars machines and Outruns, pretty sweet to see.

Yes i also tried it in mame using keyboard but is a no go....
:)
i want to try it with it's cp....
Would be great to have this game into an Aero City.....but the cp is 1cm smaller in height.
Anyway thank you for the decrypted romset.
:)

Ok then.
Anyway i decide to use a complete new set of roms, so my time scanner romset will be mantained.

I finally got some chips in to do some System 16 conversions. But it looks like there is still some confusion over whether to use 27c010 or 27c1000 (non-JEDEC) style chips

One of my PCBs is an MVP and all 19 of the mask ROMs are FUJITSU MBM27C1000 which seems to have the 27c1000 (non-JEDEC) style pinout.
The program ROMs are on AM27C100 which also has the (non-JEDEC) Sytle pinout
The jumpers are all the same as other games on this (5704) ROM board

So am I correct in assuming that if I want to convert to say Cotton or Aurail I should be using ALL non-JEDEC 27c1000 EPROMs? (with the exception of the lone 27c256 @ A10)

Different games require different EPROMs, that's why the confusion unfortunately. The only EPROMs that are the same across all games are the main program which are always 27C1000.

Sound program on every game I've seen is a 27C256 as well but could well be a 512 on some games.

This thread went off topic and people started misbehaving so I removed all offending posts so this topic can remain somewhat on it's original path.

so what is the topic?
i think it's about decoding the function of the rom-board jumpers??
