Pretty darn sweet man!! Keep posting your console work, giving me lots of ideas, the list of consoles I want to mod/recap keeps growing.

Yeah, thinking about doing all my console as well at some point.
Still need to start the RGB/recap work on my PCE Duo.

But that top left sections looks tricky with all those capacitor legs exposed the way they are...

This looks like a lot of tedious work.

Is there any reason you decided not to use the original style caps?

Also, I recently modded my original DC psu from 110V to 240v turned it on and it plays good and no magic smoke.

Can this be done to the Saturn or can I swap a DC PSU into the saturn that has been modded for 240V? I am not referring to the pico PSU mod.

According to my experience NO.

I have two Saturns I picked up from a rubbish seller in the footpaths of India for $2 each in 2009.

First one was a German? Saturn with 220V? Didnt run backups bt played Audio CD.

Second one was a Japanese Saturn 110V which ran backups (and that I why I had wrong notion that Saturn lacked protection.)

Tried to replace the Jap 110V modded console's PSU with German? Saturn's 220V PSU.

Physically does not fit.
1. 220V is physically larger.
2. Both the motherboards have different locations for the 5 pins connectors.

The mod chip that was inside the Saturn! It runs backups.

Interesting find! I always assumed they are the same and could be swapped out like with a PS1

There are ones that can be swapped I believe.

These guys here talk about it but its hard for me to get my head around it using google translate to figure it out.

Looking at it, it seems possible to replace the caps just like on the DC one to get 220-240V out of your existing PSU.
