A few years ago I picked up a weathered VA0 Saturn that didn't read discs and I wanted to clean it up. I found that several SMD caps had leaked fluid on the PCB, so I performed a full recap as well. I replaced the SMDs with long-life/high-voltage/low ESR/105C rated electrolytics. There is a large metal panel that sits just above the motherboard, so I had to position them exactly in order for it to fit back together.
After recapping, it read discs again. I usually have to tweak the laser on units that don't read CDs, but not this one. Its AV quality is now perfect too.
You could eat off it

Custom gamekingno1 RGB cables: with all internal leads shielded/grounded on both ends. Unfortunately, he seems to be out of the cable business.
