Has anyone thought of adding a shutdown circuit to chihiro like on the Naomi.

Maybe add a arduino to sense fan failure and disconnect power to the board after say 5 seconds could be done easy with a atx power on pin

That's a very good idea as most Chihiro die because of the fans getting dirty and frying the GPU. I have never seen that arduino based solution for Naomi. Have a link?

I'm sorry I was comparing the idea to the Naomi with its built in protection when it doesn't sense the fan spinning or it's spinning to slow it won't boot. So try to recreate that with arduino on a chihiro or any other hardware that doesn't have the safety feature using either 3 wire fans or temp sensors.

The atx supply has a always on line you could power it with. And the power on line to switch the supply on/off also a power OK line that goes high if everything is good.

The arduino could keep polling the fans rpms or temp and switch a transistor or relay in series with power on and ground.

Just a thought though with the price of these systems why not?

With arduino shouldn't be very complicated, problem is finding where is the right signal.
