DARKSOFT [OLD VERSION] STV Cartridge instructions and trouble shooting

Hi there-

I'm having an issue with my multicart. It's showing game names (when it wants to) and sometimes loads them to white screens. See attached images. Anything I can try out? I don't have sound set up yet. IMG_20180622_190344.jpg

Here's some tidbits:

I just dropped the rollup pack games onto a FAT32 memory stick and put that in. The reset button, wiring, etc all seems to work and sometimes brings up the correct game (if it loads; otherwise just "ERROR ON CARTRIDGE") when its selected. The ONLY game that has worked and loaded so far is VF Remix, and that's sparingly. It's the only game with the white screen. OTherwise it'll go through the first black screen and never load the game (from how it appears).

@Darksoft I believe so, I switched back to Die Hard Arcade and it's booting up.

edit: take a look at this video and let me know if it helps at all diagnose the problem:

OK - I sent you a PM Mitsu.

Now I'm only getting "Error on Cartridge". I got Cotton 2 to work last night for a long time no issues. Had sound and all, I have a video of that but I don't think it'd really help (doesn't show the board or anything). Once I tried to switch games, it went right back to the error screen. I switched out the save battery this morning since it looked eroded but it didn't do anything.

Sometimes when the error appears on screen, both lights will be on on the multicart. I reformatted & tested another SD card. Got the same result.
 
If both lights are on then a game is loading and it will give you a cartridge error until the game is loaded and the pcb is reset.
 
Everything's good now - the SD card was my issue. Games are loading and booting up no issues!! Thank you guys.

Any advice for I believe one game that shows up vertical? Shienryu I think. I have buttons on the cabinet to change how the screen displays but don't know if that'd really make the game playable.
 
Shienryu is a vertical game, and a great one too :) only option is to turn your monitor or switch wiring on your joystick or learn to play as is lol
 
Hello

I tried swapping 2 games.
I swapped the content of games_04 (columns) and game_28 (radiant silvergun).

Radiant silvergun starts when it's in the game_04 folder, and columns doesn't start when i put it in folder game_28.
 
Well, then it's pretty clear to me that the issue is in the setup. It just won't run Columns. Either because the romset is bad or the motherboard.

I'm currently traveling. Can someone with a working columns romset, PM it to @rkramer93?
@rkramer93 can you please try the following:

* copy file with extension .07 as .13 (rename existing .13 to something else)
* copy file with extension .13 as .07

In each case the files .07 and .13 will have the same contents.

If that doesnt work, let'w wait for someone PM'ing you a working romset. If still doesnt work, then it's definitely your mobo.
 
I already tried what you suggested with the .07 and .13 files.
It's the same.

Why the archive I downloaded would be corrupted ?
It came from you website.

It's a compressed file, if it was bad I couldn't have extracted it.
And the issue is not with one game, but with dozens.

And I already told you that I tried the original collumns cartridge, and the game works fne. So My motherboard if OK.

@arc11 it wouldn't be the first time that we seea board working well 'sometimes'. I believe you are based in Europe, so please send the cart to me for troubleshooting.
