The final order has now been placed and we are waiting on them to arrive (which should be 4-5 weeks from now). Once they have arrived, assembly will begin of PSIO Cartridges and shipment will start.
:-) how's that pack coming along?
Is that for all orders to start shipping, or only the first of the pre-order batches?
On the hunt for: Dinoking, Mushiking, Love & Berry, Egret 29, Grand Am Q25, Capcom New Concept 2, and Naomi guncabs.

Regarding the size of the potential pack, It might just be best for everyone to download the games you actually want to play from the Redump set on archive.org and make your own cards and .cu2 sheets for the multi .bin files. SD card trading through the mail might get tricky, but if someone out there is game, by all means go ahead.
I was going to educate you on how difficult that would be for people in oz and their shit internet then saw you are in Brisbane and wondered how it slipped your mind we have 3rd world internet and NBN is no better to give you an idea of how time consuming that would be.
Agreed. Internet here is absolute shit.

In saying that, I did it without a hitch a year ago. I don't have NBN either. Where there's a will there's a way I guess.

Thanks @jassin000 There's a ton of PS1 games that are great to play. Too many to even think about that I can only think of about 5 or 10 off the top of my head, doesn't help that PS1 was now over 20 years ago! Ideally would be great if there was a curated list by the connoisseurs of platform for all to enjoy.

It's possible without a doubt, and the library size is probably smaller than one single PS3 blue ray! I think one PS3 blue ray took me 3 or 4 weeks to download!

I did try to put all the file names in a spoiler window, this post editor bitched at me that I was restricted to 10,000 characters. :P
It should be noted, the games are stored in the 7zip format (reducing the size smaller than is actually even playable on the hardware).

    • There's no need to download the entire Redump. I just took the torrent, removed all the games that I didn't want to download, then was left with a tidy amount of 200 or so zips. Did the same for GDEmu and Rhea too. Shouldn't be too complicated or that time consuming that way.

For a reference, these are the games that I put on my 128GB SD, for those looking for good titles. I can personally recommend most of these:

Looks like a PSIO roll up pack is not happening.

@djsheep You left out Tenchu :)
I could in theory make a "roll up pack" but as discussed at over 425GB uploading it would be a bitch.

Different, but still use a launch PS1.
The trace cutting on the original PCB required to install the PS-IO I think devalues the console a little over all.

Something like a debug unit I'd personally like to keep all original (and honestly look at more than actually play).

    • get a different console, I have 2 modded consoles for PSIO because I have a lot of troubles with the IO port. These are fragile when being pulled for insertion/withdrawal of the psio. The solder get cracked under pression, from time to time I have to open and reflow, once the psio is there you shouldn't remove it often. Try not to mess with your debug unit.
Any Multi MVS bug ? Before asking delete BUFF FILE on the SD card and Reset NVRAM procedure : Power on without cart, Press Start multiple times until it asks to press ABC + Start, Do it, Power off > Done

I agree re: the trace cutting devaluing the console.

On the other hand this was a pretty ugly PS1 when I got it (though it cleaned up well) and I had to swap out the laser mech for a Chinese one to get it reading discs.

So it's already not "original" any longer I guess you could say and modding it will mean the system gets more use.

If it was pristine and fully original I wouldn't dare open it up.

      Edit:

Hmm yeah I would rarely remove the PSIO from the IO port (if ever), but that's definitely good info. Makes me lean towards getting a second PS1.
