CPS2 Multi issue

I have a first generation CPS2 Multi without the reset wire or Key writing wires. It works fine with the 'CPS2 Roll-Up Pack Add-On FINAL' ROM pack, but when I use the newer (latest) Rollup pack, I just get a yellow screen (as if it has suicided) Is this because I am using older firmware, could I totally remove the EXC5 component to disable any suicide from activating?

It is no biggie, just annoying that I can't use the newer Rollup pack

Unless you update the firmware, you'll only be able to write games that are decrypted. The latest pack is mostly encrypted games, since the latest firmware (plus the added key writing wires) enables the multi to flash they keys to the board.

So yeah, you can either stick to that old pack (decrypted games), or update the firmware + install the wires.

make sure.you disconnect the wires when updating the firmware or you may completely delete the bootloader in the arm which means that you'll have to write the bootloader again using a discovery adapter.
