What's new
I'm a bit far from my home at the moment, but I'll try to post them in a couple of days when I get back.

Looking through the list posted on the first page of the thread, the tool also fixes the auto-reset and patches the region locks on AzuDaiPB, Tetris Kiwamemichi and Border Down (I specifically remember patching those ROMs), as well as at least one of the Melty Blood games although I can't remember which version.

Interestingly though, doing this on AzuDaiPB, Tetris and Border Down (and maybe others) causes the credit functionality to break. Adding credits via the coin mech (I have a button hooked up to mine that simulates coins being dropped) doesn't work. I have to set these games to freeplay in the test menu in order to play them. SFA3 doesn't suffer from this issue though. Really weird.

Any chance the patch would work with the AW2Naomi roms as well?

Here's some of the ROMs I use that should be region-free and netboot via Triforcetools.

SFZ3U (Export BIOS OK, auto-reset works, credit function works, titled Alpha, some broke text): http://www.mediafire.com/download/i18rjqhrl2i6rag/StreetFighterZero3Upper.bin
Azumanga Diaoh Puzzle Bobble (Export BIOS OK, auto-reset works, credit function broke? Freeplay works): http://www.mediafire.com/download/1uwle23i1qxl1yv/azudaipb.dat

Finally, here the Patch tool by Deunan Knute: http://www.mediafire.com/download/0n1seo9j19deyrj/patchv2.exe
Run from the commandline, with the ROM to patch as the arg. e.g. patchv2.exe roms\title.bin .dat files work too.

I don't know if there's an official source for Deunan's NAOMI tools - he's working on the Saturn and DC SD card drive replacement kits these days, but I hope he won't mind it being posted here. Not sure how it might be breaking the credit functionality in certain games though.

Dache,

Thanks for the information. I had a handful of games that were coming up Error 2 - game not acceptable by the main board and I know it is because of region bios issues. I downloaded Street Fighter Zero from the link above and it works great! Solved the issue and it does reboot. Now, I have a few others that I want to convert to "region-free". I apologize for not being really literate on command line programs; can you outline in greater detail exactly what is input in the command line itself to get the program to work and how you direct it to the rom to be patched? Some full examples of the complete command line language and/or a picture would be great. Thanks!

Hi, i have the same problem, i can't sent a new game when one game is running on the Naomi board.
In Atomiswave games never work, i need power off the board.
In Naomi games sometimes works and sometimes not.
I have the last Japanese bios, and zero pic key.
I use Piforcetools ver. 1.4, with adafruit LCD and Raspberry PI 2.

I don`t believe that you`ve bother to read this thread or even the posts on this page.
Atomiswave games will NOT reset. A hardware solution is pending, i`m working on it.
Maybe you should post the type of your BIOS- i mean with numbers- and a list with the non-reseting games.

I'm Sorry, i'm Spanish and i don't found any answer in spanish language.
I put my question in english on Google and sent me to this thread.
My BIOS is 23605C.
I put my non-resetting Naomi games later.
Thanks for your help.

That`s the latest for your Naomi2 console.
You did not mention your Netdimm Firmware.
The discussion here is about Naomi1 but post your non-reset games...and who knows, somebody will have an idea.

Here is my Naomi list of games that don't reboot, but work with the test button trick:
Border Down
Casino
Chaos Field
Dynamite Deka EX
Melty Blood: Act Cadenza
Puzzle Bobble
Senko no Ronde
Senko no Ronde 2
I have to check on my Naomi bios, but using the 4.02 firmware with my netdimm.
Really looking forward to the loscanones hard reset solution for these games and then all the Atomiswave games. Hopefully the progress is going well on it!

Lastly, I do have a handful of games that give an Error 2 message due to I believe regional bios issues; I tried Dache's version of Street Fighter Zero and it works great. I am trying to get the patchv2.exe file to work in command line to convert the rest of the games that have the Error 2 message via the patch, but I can't figure out how to get it to work in command line. Anyone have any command line experience to help with getting the patch program to work? If I can get those games converted and eventually get the hard reset to work with the other Naomi/Atomiswave games - I am really sitting good with the Raspberry Pi net booting setup.
Thanks everyone.

Hard reset will work, 100%. No doubts about that - for me. It`s the RaspberryPi script the one who worries me. But i never give up.
Still waiting for the latest BIOS chip -from Tyler, you know postage delays during holy(shit)days. After i will receive the latest BIOS,hopefully i will understand what`s going on with Naomi games.
Patience...and coffee...

Been away without laptop access for a while, sorry.

Assuming you're on Windows:
1) Click Start, type "cmd" in the search bar. This will bring up a DOS window that is already pointed to C:\Windows.
2) Assuming you have the tool in a folder called /naomi on your C:\ drive, type 'cd C:\naomi' and it'll move to that directory. Replace 'C:\naomi' with whatever location is accurate for you.
3) Assuming the ROM you want to patch is in the same directory as the tool, just type 'patchv2.exe title.bin' to run it and patch that ROM. In my original example above, I have my ROMs in a subfolder called /roms inside where the patch tool lives, hence 'patchv2.exe roms\title.bin'.

It's just a matter of moving current the DOS folder to the one where the patch tool lives, and typing its full name and then adding the location of the ROM afterwards.

Ok. Feel dumb, but I am doing exactly as you describe above and getting a "Incompatible code!" error. I have the patchv2.exe located in the C:\Naomi file. I am running the following argument: c:\Naomi>patchv2.exe GuiltyGearXXReload.bin and getting this error. I tried other configurations of moving the exe files, etc. to no avail. What am I missing? Please help. Thanks.
Update: I tried on the JingyStormTheArcade.bin and got the following:
Matching code found at 0x000391B8
Patching region lockout
Fiel patched OK
So I am assuming it "worked" for the JingyStormTheArcade rom, but I am using the same process for the other roms (BorderDown_v3, Capcom_vs_SNK_Millenium_Fight_2000.bin, VirtuaFighter4Evo.bin and getting the "Incompatible Code" error.
Any thoughts as to why?

No idea. Maybe they're just ripped differently to the standard way the tool expects. I didn't make it so I can't really help. I got all my ROMs from Neo Arcadia (http://neo-arcadia.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=24159&start=300) which I think all patched okay when I tried them, but I'm going back over a year so I can't remember any that may've fucked up. Try those instead.

Yes: I got my roms at the same website. The three that won't convert for me are Capcom vs. SNK Millennium Fight Pro 2000, Guilty Gear XX Reload, and Virtua Figher 4 Evolution. These three give me an Error 02 when loading - the Jingy Storm The Arcade does work (loads great) which it didn't before, but it requires the test menu trick to reset; which is fine as long as it loads. The hard reset forthcoming anyway.

Can you try the three roms I listed above and see if you can get them to work with the patch? If so, perhaps it is something wrong on my end and if you could provide a link to the files; it would be great. Thanks. Sorry for the trouble. The Street Fighter Zero you provided in the link worked great while mine didn't work before; so hopeful these other three will work at some point as well. Or if there is another reason it is giving me an Error 02 - but I think it is always a region issue with Error 02 from my experience. If you could give it a try, I would greatly appreciate it.

I remember having problems with CvS1Pro, actually, but I found a different version of the ROM (a .dat if I'm remembering right) elsewhere and patching that worked fine.

GGXX Reload never worked for me, nor any of the early versions I think except the original GGX. I'll give them another go tomorrow if I get the chance to hook my Naomi back up, but it's usually the MAME PC these days. I'll try and get the patched CvS1Pro uploaded.

I've only got an original Naomi so I can't try any of the VF4 series. If they're saying they're patched for you but don't work, I doubt any I try will be any different.

Thanks for the reply! If you can get the CvS1Pro uploaded - that would be great. And if you get a chance to give the Guilty Gear XX Reload a go tomorrow; I would appreciate it. No problem with the VF4 - I will try another version if I can find one.
Thanks again.
