so officially there's only 2 panels for the swing, a 2L6B and a 4L12B , which is ok for most beat em ups, but not optimal for many games. 
since the game was actually in use in an arcade, I couldn't take the panel home to trace it, I had to rely on art I found , and scale that according to some measurements I took on site. A buddy laser cut a piece of wood so I could check the most crucial part: the carriage bolt holes. Seemed good to go.
well that's a bit boring, so a little inkscape later, let's apply some artwork,
and the part everyone hates, but can be almost... zen like ... wiring
at that point I still wasn't 100% sure that everything would line up perfectly.. but it did
