Hi All,

I’m from Switzerland and looking for your help to sort out my installation issue with the CPS2 mutli. The issue is the following:I’m able to select the game on the display, flashing works and I received the message Have fun. Neverthless, my screen is completely “black”, I just got a flash green screen for half of second when the writing of the rom is completed. Note that the board was not suicided. I’ve just removed the battery without shorting the capacitor EXC5. Did the shortcut later without result.

Here is my setup:

  • Mutlikit CPS2 purchased in Oct 2018 from “Saveyourgame.it” with the PAL G and key writing cable.
  • Board A + B working and tested
  • Board A japan
  • Board B Japan, donor Street Fighter Zero rev.7
  • Supergun smallcab + PC power supply
  • MicroSD Toshiba 4GB (Fat32) with rom taken from the forum
Here are some 4 original games converted ready to play. More will come soon.
Remember that they need to go into /games directory in your microSD.
mediafire.com/file/4ct9d4j0vohhnka/encrypted_games.7z

I’ve installed the Mutli Kit following the below steps

  • Removed the battery from the board B
  • Remove the original roms / IC
  • Setup the jumper according the instruction SOOS SO OSOSOS SOSOSOSO SOSOSOSO (S=Short, O=Open) then tested with a multimeter.
  • Installed the Multi boards
  • Installed interconnect board
  • Installed the PAL G chip that I received from “Saveyourgame.it”
  • Installed and solder the Key writing cables with this pinout
CN9 pins:

DATAArduino # 2→ CN9 #2

SETUP1Arduino # 3→ CN9 #3

CLOCKArduino # 11→ CN9 #4

SETUP2Arduino # 12→ CN9 #5

I've attached some pictures.

Thanks much all in advance for your help.

Hi Franck_fjs,

Thanks, I've pushed as much as I can the interconnect board. Now seems to be properly aligned and inserted.
Nevertheless, the issue persist. I have a black screen only when the flashing of the rom is completed I have a green screen flash half second and then again black screen.
on the LDC everything seems to be ok. From Flashing, Writting key and Have Fun to Playing Now.

I just also made a shortcut on EXC5, all pin have been link for several second. Ive check with a multimeter the shorcut then moved it.

I've checked after the CN9 connection to main board for the key writting, miserably I noticied that I inverted setup 1 ans setup 2 connection!!!
Then I noticed that the pad copper of the Setup2 connection is not anymore present. Poor me! I think It went off, due force put by this fucking to big cable provided... See picture.

In order to test everything, I just decided to remove all cable regarding the key wirtting and, just installed the SWD5 cable. (see picture). I also changed the rom for uncrypted one.

Now the situation is almost as before but with solide Green screen!

I need advice?

Thanks much

Solid green screen sounds like it is suicided .
Exactly which rompack do you have on the card now?
Should be this of you removed the key writing wires; 2017-11-18: OLD Packs FINAL release.

Try a decrypted romset. Mvc unlocked will do and is in the newest roll up pack as well.

Hi Guys,

I manageg to make it work with unencrypted rom after another shortcut of the EXC5. :D

Just wondering if a other point exist for the Key writting > setup2 and I'm not ready to solder the cable directly on the IC. I lost the copper pad ;(

Thanks much all. Long live to CPS2

You had your key writing wires soldered incorrectly originally which is why you got the black screen. I think you realised this :)

You have used too much heat for too long which is why the pad got lost.

The wires are large enough to fit in the connector and they're not too large for the pads, you tin the wires first then heat the wire to the pad

Some (possibly all?) of the pads are connected to the group of through holes on the edge of the multi board. @Mitsurugi-w or @Darksoft will be able to tell you if the pad you lost is connected there or not.

If it's not you will need to find another point to pick up that connection and jumper it

I would suggest at this point getting the board to someone to install your key writing wires, the other pads will already be weakened and it's entirely possible you will risk losing others

I just remembered if that pad is completely gone, the through hole option is still going to need you to install a jumper wire since it goes through hole -> pad -> FPGA pin

I think your best option is to send this to someone who can repair it

Hi,

I will keep as it is until I found someone who can solder a thin cable directly to the FPGA.

I'm definitely not equipped for that, the risk is to high to damage completely the board.

At the end the important is to play and un-encrypted roms are fine.

Thanks all

Yeah unfortunately that pad is not connected on a header. So soldering to the ARM is your only option at this time.

I've discussed it with DS and future multis will have the SWD pads on a header in case of future expansion such as happened with the CPS2 functionality.
