What's new
are you sure the dip switches are in 31KHz mode?
Wow.
Can't believe I'm so dumb.

Thank you.
I really forgot about my messing with the DIP. It works.

P.s. anyone have service manual with readable circuit pages?
Those 2 I've got - you can't really read part names in the drawing.

There is a real printed one available on eBay for 4.90 EUR, but shipping is 24 EUR :)

If it is a vertical filling issue then you may do well to suspect the vertical IC. It is usually a SIP package attached to a heatsink, near the vertical deflection socket.

I don't think anyone who makes a living out of servicing these does a full recap for a faulty chassis. Doing one takes a ton of time, probably not worth it to the customer if you're charging by the hour.

I recapped two 29E31S chassis just recently, and I tested some of the caps with an ESR meter and they were fine. I only remember the two 330uf 35V caps being out of spec.

I bet guys like jomac and grantspain change only capacitors that they know can go bad unless asked otherwise. The AO wiki has a page on some common MS8 faults:

https://wiki.arcadeotaku.com/w/Nanao_MS8-29

"Change C911 C913 C442", not "do a full recap".
Old topic Jomac don't recommend shootgun capi-kits and grantspain advised me of replacing in the first place only a few:

"caps to replace on es31
33uf 250v c426,433,831
220uf 50v c821
1uf 50v c822
2200uf 16v c836
100uf 250v c832
1000uf 35v c835
1000uf 50v c834"

C832 doesnt exist so must be a mistake -> 833

Makes sense.

33uF 160V, not 330uF 35V. But yeah, those two guys are often visibly bulging.
