What's new
I believe E20 is the error you get even if the FFB is unplugged. It indicates that there is no communication happening between the board and the game, therefore the board is not sending that error. It's not all that useful of an error other than to say there could be any number of issues going on causing a communication breakdown.

Ya not of much use at all. The manual basically says replace board upon E20 error which is pretty useless as well. It does work once in awhile.
I now have a Sega type 1 IO on the way. I would like to create an adapter to rewire IO for Sega type 1. Do any of you happen to know what plugs I would need to buy to convert J102 and J101. J104 looks like it’s the jvs usb so I’m assuming that will be the easy one. Also I not sure which plug I would need to buy for the Sega type 1 IO.
Is what I’d like to do possible?

You can create wiring adapters. That's the part that's not that fun, in my opinion. I couldn't be bothered to do that, and I spent forever developing a custom replacement JVS Board so I wouldn't ever have to mess with adapters and rewiring for different games. You'll have to map everything out. There's a pinout diagram of the Type 1 connectors somewhere, but there isn't one for the Namco board as far as I know.

Just get a standard USB cable to use for JVS communications on the Type 1.

The 60-pin connector from your cab will need to be split out into a 60-pin and 26-pin connector. Basically you'll need a 60-pin header to receive the connector from the cab, and then I guess solder wires to that and break them out into the connectors that will go into to the Type 1.

You'll do something similar for the power connector. I've used a lot of these connectors in my MEGA JVS project. Let me see if I can dig up part numbers.

Can you elaborate?

Did you already buy a Type 1 I/O?

Make sure to reference the manual with the required I/O pins.

I use the Type 2 because the I/O has some limited pins.

Depending on your usage, you may not need all the pins but the connectors will make a difference (JST)

Header that matches the power header on the Namco Board:

Here's a 26-pin connector that can plug into the Type 1:

Omron Electronics - XG5N-261 - need compatible pins

Here's a 60-pin connector that can plug into a Type 1:

Omron Electronics - XG5N-601 - need compatible pins

Here's a 60-pin header that the one from your cab can plug into:
Amphenol ICC - 71918-160LF
https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/omron-electronics-inc-emc-div/XG5N-261/OR1124-ND/3828700

The power connectors on the Type 1 need a 5-pin (12v) and 4-pin (5v) JST NH connector. You will have to supply 12v, because the lamps in the buttons on WMMT use 12v.
Digikey doesn't stock these, so you have to get them elsewhere:
They need compatible pins.

Thank you for all the info and links I really appreciate it. I’m terrible at identify the plugs I need to buy. On that note do you know a link for the male version on the 60 pin connector
My plan was to just plug my existing 60 pin connector into it and break off into other plugs for type 1 IO

If anyone here makes these adapters I’d definitely buy one right away ;)

I linked to 60 pin locking header that will match that. I don't know if there are better options. You'd have to solder onto the pins. I doubt there's a more convenient option available for DIY wiring.

Ugh, thought of having to wire this up... I'm not in any way prepared to offer a MEGA JVS for sale, but if those became available, you'd just replace your I/O with that and you'd be good to go. I could maybe be persuaded with a trade.

Edit: I guess I screwed up the link above for the 60 pin header. I believe I got the part number right, though.

MEGA JVS sounds like a great solution if it’s a drop in replacement. What kind of trade would help persuade you? Are you looking for anything in particular? Otherwise I don’t mind paying for it, if that helps persuade you too ;)
If any are available anytime soon I am definitely interested in acquiring 2 ASAP. It sounds much easier and definitely worth it
