It's MS8-25FAR. There's two revisions of it that I know of, you have the newer (nicer) one.

I have a cap map for it. I'll clean up the drawing and post it tomorrow.

Sweet thanks guys! Time to track down cap kit, fly back, and hots for it. Anything else?

I don't think you need to do anything else to it except recap it and go over any cracked solder joints. I fixed three monitors this way.

Flybacks are most likely NLA. The HOT is a 2SC4157, but you can use a 2SC3306 instead. It can be picked up for half of the price.

MS8-25FAR cap lists

There are two different revisions of this chassis with some small differences in caps. The discerning feature between the revisions is the additional daughter board on the top left corner, PCB-VIDEO.

@Solmin, you have the newer revision, so on the cap list you can subtract one of the 47uf 16V capacitors. You just need two.

Let me know if I made any mistakes.

@nem I am starting to compare and go through my MS8-25FBC (My Q25 chassis) and MS8-25FAR (Spare)

C574 on both my chassis are 35v 33uF polarized. The pcb also has polar markings on both for C574.
You have it listed as a 16v 10uF BP cap.

I'm going through my notes right now, and in it I have it listed as a bipolar 10uf 16V :/

Anyway, I'll pull out the chassis from the Madonna next week and go over the map.

EDIT: in a hand drawn map for MS8-25FA I have here, there is indeed a polarized 33uf 35V in the same spot. Weird.

More than likely I have put 10uf 16V BP caps in place as per my notes, so not sure what help pulling out the chassis will be. All I can say is, it works fine with a 10uf bipolar cap :P

Anyway, I've now fixed the map and the cap list. Did you notice anything else different, @ReplicaX?

Thanks!

I'll be going through the rest of both chassis today. If I find anything else I'll let ya know.

Thanks!
MS8-25FAR & MS825FBC Caps List are the same as above with the corrected C574 for the Mainboards. My FBC & FAR have a C572 of 47uF 16v. So the Mainboards look good. The FBs, HOTs, and Damper Diodes are the same as well.

I will be comparing accessory pcbs next between the 2 as well as all other components.

@ReplicaX

Well, I wasn't completely wrong. Went through all my three chassis and look what I found:

ms8-25far_cap.jpg

C240 (not C574) is a 10uf 16V BP. See how the PCB doesn't have a polar marking.

This is the chassis where C572 is a 100uf 16V cap.

Two of my chassis are like this. However, the third one is like yours, where C572 is 47uf 16V. Guess who put the wrong cap in C574? :whistling: I have had some issues with the horizontal width on that monitor, could be related!

Thanks again for noticing! I'm going to fix the chassis right now.

Nice catch! This is exactly why I'm comparing the FBC and FAR I have lol.

@nem Your 22uF 250v is missing from the list, its on your map though.
