Programming Atmega chips via Wellon VP598

Anyone here ever use a Wellon programmer with Atmega chips?

I have the VP598 and it is bricking any Atmega chip I try to flash. The Wellon software doesn't report any errors, it seems to flash fine, I can even read the chip and verify the hex file, but the chip doesn't work in its intended application and can no longer be erased / read / written to via a USB ISP programmer. See below...

Prior to the Wellon I was using one of those cheap USB ISP programmers via XtremeBurner software without issue.

Any advice?

Do I need an ISP adapter, the WL-ISP-U1?

Either that or my guess is that it's setting an external clock via the fuse config.

Never mind, worked it out.

Have to check the config box to write fuse settings.

My other issue was that I needed to read the chip with an oscillator onboard.

All working now.

Glad you sorted it all out Frank. Will still send the TL866 through anyway, might come in handy.
