can anyone confirm this is a legit pcb? Looking at other ones I see some rom labels differences and I heard system 18 has a lot of conversion boards

how can you tell? And what's the world version? I have a super street fighter world version never understood it

Mask roms on the rom board
Encrypted cpu (317-0159)
... and lots of original stickers

Conversions won’t have either of the first two anyway. It’s possible to resurrect a dead one now, but if they have I’d still call it original.

If it had mask roms and a 68000 cpu I’d say it was using unencrypted program roms, but might also still be original hardware, with the qualifier that it’s been resurrected.

My personal copy is a straight up conversion.. bloxeed rom board, bloxeed motherboard, replaced MCU, and all EPROMs.

World usually means English. Most arcade games come in a few language versions, but a lot of times it’s just Japan and World.

Others:
USA (just world with FBI warnings much of the time)
Asia
Europe
Hispanic

anybody can help? Just got my moonwalker in the mail a day ago first cap was messed up from shipping replaced them all. When I do a ram check that happens after the first check.
2nd no sound at all I re seated the sound chip I read that helps.
3rd when I finally get Into the game it freezes either goes black or when I shoot Micheal freezes and that's it. Once I get hit by a person they do animations but nothing else.

also Ebay seller hasn't responded to my open case or PM. Have a couple of days till Ebay helps but as of rn I'm fucked.

The ram test is visually aggressive but that’s what it does normally. Try it in mame!

For your audio, did you turn the sound pot up? Many sellers turn it all the way off before shipping.

Honestly though no sound and glitching may just be that the battery module has suicided. You can replace it with a normal 68k cpu and burn the decrypted program roms. If that fixes it, you can do the work to restore the original (http://arcadehacker.blogspot.com/2018/12/sega-system16-security-programming-guide.html?m=1)

is there someone on this form willing to do that?? Saw the Sega resurrection way but not sure what's simpler.

okay I ordered that CPU. Now comes the part that's out of my ability lol.

If the 68k is suicided you get no game at all, no sound would be if it was running an encrypted Z80 MC-8123B. That board has a Zilog Z80 installed

What's your +12 reading? The fact that it's freezing, resetting or giving a black screen is suggesting not enough power to me....

It also happens keys get corrupted then game starts to behave erratically.
Might be the case here.

That said the symptoms are just a perfect match for a dead MCU. I bet if you pull it everything will still work as bad.

@iGaroux the MCU is just next to your cpu/security module. IC4. Sticker says 314-5437. If you want to pull that out and see if it does the same behavior, I can write you one of those and ship that. Pretty sure I have some spare. I’ll send the decrypted roms also since the battery will die someday (if it hasn’t already).

Based on PM it sounds like it was neither the cpu nor the mcu.

@twistedsymphony when you were doing your conversion I think you ran into similar issues. I thought you solved it by swapping in new program roms but maybe it was a different rom giving you trouble, do you recall? It was at least a Jedec vs. non-jedec issue. Maybe his problem here is the same rom

okay update I had replaced the Yamaha chip on the pcb saw a repair log and it happens but rarely didnt work.

Tried all the chips on a working system 18 board Hitachi,Mcu and eeprom it works.
Maybe something on the board that I cant see that's messed up possibly a trace or something. So no success!

If anybody does have another system 18 Motherboard I would like to buy another Rom board doesn't have to be included
