I'm referring to the schematic of the video circuit, included in the Minigun zip file as SCHEMATIC_VIDEO.pdf

The sync has a voltage divider consisting in a 1K and 150 ohm resistor. It's possible that this board outputs a weaker signal, not enough to work properly with that monitor.

Exactly this ^

I'd try a 220R and see if that works. That will put the sync output at between 0.7V and 0.9V pending arcade board. A bit above spec but not enough to cause damage and maybe enough to get some of the troublesome boards working.
 
Some boards, like bootlegs cps1 have crazy sync, so i personally like to use potentiometer on sync line on my superguns.

I'd be happy to implement that, with a limited range of 1V max. I'd feel horrible if I allowed full TTL sync access and someone blew up their OSSC etc.

There's any documentation about it or related problem? Some boards you can't play with fixed sync, I hate that haha
 
I think the voltage measured at the THS7374 outputs gets divided by two with the voltage divider formed by the 75 ohm resistor in series and the 75 ohm resistor to ground inside the SCART tv set. So measuring 1V there would mean the sync signal will be 500mV.

As far as I know some PVMs have an option to disable this resistor, so you must check this first.

Since each board is different It's not easy to limit the range to maximum 1V. In my opinion, using a voltmeter is a need and part of the hobby.
 
I'm taking that into account already.

Sync out of arcade board:

4V / 4.5V / 5V

Voltage divider at THS input (1K - 150R/GND):

0.52V /0.58V / 0.65V

THS output:

1.04V / 1.16V / 1.3V

Voltage divider after THS output (75R - 75R/GND):

0.52V / 0.58V / 0.65V

Scart spec dictates 0.3V each for horizontal and vertical, 0.6V combined sync.
 
Purchased this cable and it arrived today.

Wasn't too expensive, really well made, very nice plugs and cable, ferrite core EMI shielding.

HUGE DIFFERENCE. Big improvement over the cable included with the scart DIN kit from eTim. No noticeable video / audio interference at all, lovely.

It seems it's not a Taito F2 board issue. It's not a minigun issue either!

Everything works and sync on my another PVM (1341) which have an external V-Hold adjustment knob. same cables, same minigun.

Will have to mess in the service menu of my giant PVM 2950 to see if there is a manual sync adjustment that can be done.

So strange that my SNES Jr. sync won't work with that setting, but if I remove the 150R and ground 1K (like RGB lines), works fine.

Got it! Just had to be very patient. This PVM has a "auto-sync" feature on startup. Found this when messing in the service menu for a special option to adjust the V-Hold :P

Just has to wait until the TV tried different "sync settings" until it gets it. Took about a minute on startup of the Taito F2 board.

So yes, the F2 has a uncommon sync but yes, my PVM can handle it.

I'm trying to order the parts for the latest v2.3 revision, but inside the ZIP there are two BOM PDFs? ("MiniGun Supergun ADV - BOM - Sheet1.pdf" and "MiniGun Supergun ADV - BOM.pdf")

What's the difference and which one is correct?

I've been doing some changes of your board to make it more modular with some popular devices from the Retrogaming scene (I'll reveal it once I have the boards tested and working great). I would like to say great work on this board and it has gotten me to learn how to use Eda software and given me some good experience with routing and troubleshooting.

I haven't seen this mentioned (or I missed it) but I did run into an issue with one of the parts listed in the BOM. The Switch you list for toggling Button 4 from the Jamma harness to the Ext. Harness (JS202011CQN), in its datasheet (https://www.ckswitches.com/media/1422/js.pdf) it states that the holes for the switch should be 35mil. The current holes on the Board are 27.56mil. The boards I ordered and Switches I got from Digikey(Same part as listed above) will not fit so I had to file down each pin. I have fixed this in my revision but just thought I should let you know.

The datasheet specifies 0.9mm holes, I've used 0.7mm. I found 0.9mm to be too large and never had an issue nor has anyone else that I know of. See pics:

Very strange the switch wouldn't fit. Who did you use to fabricate the PCBs and which finish did you select?

Out of the 5 boards I have, that switch does not fit in any of them except for 3 pins on one of them. I don't have anything to measure the holes with but it seems like with this configuration that its within the margin of error of manufacture (or something I did when ordering). My next board I'll be making the holes to spec and see how it turns out. I can take a picture of the Switch not going into the board but I feel that doesn't really show much lol.
 
Not a problem, I'll increase the hole size for that switch.

I'm working on an update now actually, main point of focus is the mounting holes in the corners. I've re-orientated / positioned the switches and audio header so that there's a lot more room for mounting hardware such as PCB feet.

Question for the group. I have a 1.7 revision. I am experiencing too much brightness with my unit. Is there a way to adjust it? What I am using.

1. MV1C
2. 8 din pin scart properly shielded.
3. Going straight to a Sony PVM 14M4U.

When using my version 3.2 HAS I am not getting this brightness issue.

Try changing the 3 x 220R resistors on the RGB lines to 180R.
