So got my vewlix and cleaned it up and ready to set up some systems but not real sure on a couple things mainly power supplies and IO. Trying to minimize as much as possible swapping things. It has the taito jvs i/o in the cab already.

Systems I want to play:

Taito x2 - seems easy plug an play.

Naomi 2 - use Sun psu. Can i plug into taito jvs?

System 2x6 - use Sun psu. Can i plug into taito jvs?

Lindbergh - use atx psu. Prob have to use sega type 3 io?

Ringedge - built in power plug in. Have to use sega type 3 io?

Any 1 power supply I can use and modify cables such as maybe QP-150-3A? I have naimi to atx cable adapter should i just Atx power supply? Just wary or using non arcade or adjustable power supplies.

Would Sega type 3 io work with naomi, x2 and others?

I/O questions none Taito systems - you need one of those on the pics, hit KC but they are not cheap.

Naomi and systems 2x6 don't look good on the LCD because they are 31khz, those systems are best on a crt cab.

For power - I have seen people sell ATX plugs Jasencustom

I strongly disagree with this statement!
I say the opposite... If the game is already 31khz use a LCD, only 15khz looks best on a CRT (and even then I still use scalers like the OSSC and Taito JAMMA kit).

You have the Taito Vewlix JVS PSU and IO inside the cab correct?

Yes use the cab as Taito intended (my 256/246 hooked directly to the Vewlix PSU/AMP/IO/LCD)...

But remember...
You MUST use a JPN 100v step down transformer if you are to depend on this PSU functioning correctly!

Simple "3-prong/ground" mod visible here (requires shaving down the left blade of the adapter)...

The cab electronics seem fine with USA 120v, but that PSU isn't.
I say IF you are going to run a Vewlix without a step down make sure to disconnect the PSU as to not damage it permanently.

No use the Taito JVS IO directly with the Naomi/256, just keep in mind that some games on Naomi (like CvS2) don't play nice with it.
That's why we need @MetalliC to patch them for us. ;)

CvS2 patch to work with Taito JVS IO

Ok no psu came with my cab so i plugged in a taito x2 as it has built in power supply. After an initial scare video now works!

So I am going to use an ATX psu, it will natively run lindbergh and i have power cable adaptors for naomi and 246/256.

I am guessing i need to use the sega type 3 i/o?

Fan turns on without any psu in there so where is it getting power from, i am assuming its 12v?

Cant seem to find anyone selling the Anycoin v2, anyone know where i can get one or another option?

You can just use the IO that's already in there for non-analog games anyway (not sure about analog as I don't have any).

Don't put a Sega IO in there, the power lines on the 60-pin are not in the same place, you'll fry it. Taito sold an adapter from one 60-pin to the other that swaps the pins to proper places if you wanted to use a Sega IO. They still sell them, they're like $20 brand new.

I dont have the taito jvs psu so do i still have to worry about frying the sega type 3 io?

Yes. The 60-pin Taito harness is not pin compatible with the Sega I/O's connector. You need the adapter PCB if you want to use a Sega I/O. I'll take a peek around for mine and get you the part number.

The 60-pin connectors are even keyed differently so you can't accidentally plug Taito into Sega or vice-versa.

To adapt you need:

Taito part no. K91X1207B

Thread hijack warning....

I'm in the same boat. I just picked up a pair of Vewlix-F with fastio pcb's installed but fortunately they both have the Taito PSU so I'm OK to power most of what I want to run.

I also managed to pick up one Taito JVS PCB from YAJ so I'm sorted for one cab I also have a spare Sega JVS PCB (from a Naomi) but no cabling for it.

From what I gather you unplug the fastio PCB and plug the cables into the JVS one (apart from the card-reader) and drop a USB cable into the base if using the Taito JVS card.

For the other I'm going to have to use the Sega JVS, so I'll need Taito part no. K91X1207B which I replace the fastio pcb with - then what from there, how do you power the Sega one and what cables do I need to go between them?

@Lemony Vengeance is currently looking into making an adapter cable so the Sega JVS I/Os can be used instead of having to get a Taito JVS I/O

You are probably more likely to find a Taito IO than to find that part that converts from Taito to Sega. I have had no luck finding it for not a fortune.

Taito was selling them less than six months ago at ~$25ea. Not sure if they still have any.

No wiring just the PCB.

I'm in the same boat. Have a Vewlix with Fast I/O and want a JVS I/O as well.

If any of you order from Taito, I want in on that order!
