Decided to start offering monitor and PSU recapping services. No actual repair work just yet, but maybe down the line. Happy to toss in a new HOT for cost of the part since sometimes they'll go after a recap if you want as well.

Monitors will be a flat rate $140 plus actual return shipping. Turn around time is guaranteed at 2 weeks from receipt of the chassis. I should note that this is for arcade or similar monitor chassis, and does not include PVM's, digital consumer displays, and the like. I'm willing to do those as well, but we would need to discuss it ahead of time. As an example my XM29 took $140 in caps alone across 9 PCBs, nevermind time or legwork.

Happy to take on your oddball requests as well. Laserdisc players, etc.

Monitor Chassis - $140
PSU - $80
PSU and Sound amp combo like the Blast or Windy - $140
PCB pricing is generally around $50

I'm going to try accepting trades for a little bit here. For now the only things I think I'm interested in are:

MS8-25 Yokes
Metal Slug 2/4 carts

Very nice, sure there is a market for this as monitor repair places get less and less and I hear more and more about PSU failures!

Good luck man!

Nice! I have a MS9 from my Egret II that might need a shotgun recap to see if blooming issues improve. And I have very little time anymore with the new kid.

Any pics of your work?

One of my NECs needs a recap.. I wish you were on my side of the planet..

Yeah, shipping nine PCBs would be a real pain :/.

Not sure what you're looking for exactly. Nice monitor pics? Pics of soldering?

It's just cap replacement, not fancy wiring for some complicated video or audio mod, so I'm not sure what there is to look at. I'm sure I can find something to take a picture of, I just don't know what you're after, ha.

Don’t take this the wrong way- I don’t know you or what you usually do (and I’m not on this specific forum as regularly as others)... and I’ve seen a lot of really bad soldering on boards I’ve bought off eBay/KLOV/Etc. (And then had to fix myself)

I could do it myself, but if I want to save some time and pay someone, I want some amount of mental security that they know what they are doing. Again, no offense intended!

@reclaimer gotcha now. I'll tear something out of a cab in the next day or so and take a few pics! This kind of work I can certainly handle. As well as some surface mount stuff if the pitch isn't too bad.

Just don't trust me with those tiny SMD ceramic caps... They always work out, but they're never straight T_T

Cool, no rush for me! If you are LOOKING for business from folks, a few shiny pics always helps. :)

Really cool that you're offering this service!

Do you plan to only do chassis/PSU recaps, or will you also be working on other aspects of arcade monitors (first posts kinda answers the question but just making sure)? I have a really dim 27/29" monitor that I wonder if I can get working again. Depending on how close you are I could probably drive the monitor over to avoid the hassles of shipping.

I'm in Riverside. If you want to PM me what's going on with it we can go from there.

Also, happy to do labor on trade (you'll still need to pay for the parts and shipping).

I'm currently working on complete US sets for WiiU, 3DS, Vita, as well as some PSP stuff, and of course arcade games.

3/5 of the first reduced rate orders taken so far. It's been fun. I'm enjoying it. :)

Do you clean the chassis? I have a spare ms2930 that could use a cap kit, but the thing has 20 years of Japanese dirt and cig smoke
