What's new
@cruzlink2 how much do you charge for a complete CPS2 Board USA with digital board installed? Or is to provide your own board, digital kit and I charge for installation?

Nice! I'm interested in adding the digital AV mod to my CPS1. I recently did my CPS2 and I love it. Any details on where to get that helper board or getting the AV board pre programmed for CPS1?

Jose, where do you get the cps1 adapter board?

wait, how? please explain these headers to me, are they a normal part you can buy off the shelf or is this some magic to make them that clean?

no the pin header is basically a u shape on the other end in order for you to solder to the ram.

The problem (and correct me if I'm wrong about this I've only done the one CPS2 HDMI) with this mod, in the 5x mode its locked to 1920x1080 far as I can tell.
This means the slight top and bottom of the screen is cropped, which is honestly a drag.
On OSSC we can set 5x mode to run in 1600x1200 so nothing is cropped, yes you'll need a 4k monitor/tv to display that, but its an option for those that care about it.

I've see 'em almost next to one another (CPS2 HDMI mod vs CPS2+HAS+OSSC) and yea the internal HDMI mod produced much cleaner video (some video noise was visible/present on the OSSC) however overall I'd say not having access to 1600x1200 made it inferror to OSSC.

So it's not really a problem per say, if you have a good capture card you can fix it for your capture. On your monitor you can't but a new firmware is on the way anyways so just a matter of time before it's fixed.

I'm saying the only thing that makes the internal HDMI mod better (very sharp/clean video) is negated by a 1080p limitation.
If you own a 4k TV/monitor you are better off with CPS1/2/3+HAS/Minigun+OSSC.

That's a pretty big problem wouldn't you say?
I guess not if a firmware update will allow for 1600x1200, and if it uses the same FPGA as the OSSC no reason why that couldn't happen.
I'm only speaking about right now this very second (I think? maybe some way to enable 1600x1200 exists?).

It's not a super difficult mod, but for the effort and investment in dedicated equipment (ie once installed into the CPS1 its in the CPS1/not available to anything else) I would expect the best HDMI experience...
If you own a 4k TV/monitor that's simply NOT the case (not without 1600x1200).

Yes for playing at the moment with the cutoff is not great but let's say you have a super gun or a cab and you stream this is ideal for ya. With the new firmware whenever it does drop then it's good for both playing on an ldc and streaming.

Anyone here have extra helper PCBs (assembled) that they want to sell? Just looking for one.

Cool, I think the bom just links to a normal pin type, but it looks like vgp has em at least: https://www.videogameperfection.com/products/male-header-digital/
if anyone knows the actual part number, lemme know! looks useful
Oops, missed this discussion. I had those headers custom made a while back when Marqs and I were shaking out installation methods. I just sent a bunch more to VGP recently, so if you were waiting on getting them there, they should show up soon :)
