So I have been on the long search for the OEM JAMMA connector that is used on all these candy cabs. The lovely connector that is robust and has removable crimp pins, the one we all know and love. Well after digging the forums to find the correct part number then scouring the Internet to actually find the dang parts, I think I may have done it.

GEC-561 - JST - Connector Housing
GEC-SC1212 - JST - Connector contact

This is the connector housing and 56 pins to fully populate the connector. The JAMMA standard has a key that takes up 2 pins, so you only need 54 pins to fully populate a JAMMA connector

Interesting, were you able to get the GEC-SC1112 pins?
Unfortunately just the GEC-SC1212 pins, they show what looks like crimping 2x 22, 20 or 18 awg wire in these pins. I will have to test and see if you can crimp just one of that gauge in these pins, maybe just to one side of the center line of the crimp.

Maybe I am missing something, but this is just an edge connector to me brutha.
  • Sega Cabs use the Hirose CR7E-56DA edge connector, which is still being made and sourced from various places
  • Then there are other manufacturers that make high quality JAMMA compatible edge connectors like:
    • EDAC
    • Sullens
Unless there is a obsessive need to restore to 100% OEM spec, plus you would have to name which cab uses this specific connector, I see no need for the expense.

Did a little quick digging....those aren't that hard to find....found edge connector in 5 min or less...for 2.75 a piece....pins...well, im waiting on a reply for those....it'd have to be pretty high per pin to warrant 50$ a connector set.

Yes there are still tons of JAMMA edge connectors out there. AFAIK the JST GEC connector is the only one that uses replaceable crimp pins. If you just need a JAMMA connector then this is clearly overkill and overpriced. If you have an Egret 2, Windy, AWSD, etc and want a stock pile of spare crimp pins and a new housing, then this is a cheap insurance policy to keep the JAMMA connector working without having to patch solder onto some pin or deal with some mangled plastic after 20 years of use. Seems reasonable when these cabs are going for over $1000.

Myself and others have bought them from Quest before, have been in stock for years now. Depending how many you're buying, but connector and pins is around $12

There is value in what you are offering for sure, but there is a lot more hyperbole in what you are saying. "All these candy cabs" don't use this connector. Just a few do.There are JAMMA edge connectors that use replaceable crimp pins, mostly US cabs from the 80's. But pins for those 80's cabs are only compatible with the edge connectors for their respective manufacturers. Those truly are in rare supply. JAMMA edge connectors are a dwindling commodity for sure. But not scarce now. Perhaps your post is just ahead of its time.

Don't want to rain on your parade, just trying to set the record straight. I do own an Egret II.

Yeah I think I have made a mistake here and was hyped up by my seller. I need to look into other sources for these since you guys are just here to help. I am going to edit this and eat my lunch.

For sure, from my purchase 1 connector, 100 pins + shipping (I was inpatient and picked next day shipping which raised the price considerably) came out to around $12 a set because I didn't want to make a larger order, larger order lower cost.

Still these are very nice/quality connectors, the crimp pins are a nice bonus. I plan on redoing my jamma harnesses on myc crt cabs to suit my needs.

Did you get it from Quest, i think they are the cheapest ones that have these. yeah other place will hike up the prices.

...just following along. redoing a couple spots in my egret2 harness has been on the back-burner for a while. These are suitable for those? I may snap a photo tomorrow to be certain. @acblunden2 we probably have the same one from the group buy, if you know for sure.

Thanks for the part numbers, I may try to pick some up. Is there a tool to re-pin too or will any small pick work?

I will send you connectors and pins since I have more than I need on the way. I think Taito wa the one that mostly used these in their cabs, could be other also.

It took me about 48 seconds. Plus, JST's office is here in San Jose to request samples from.

We did for sure. Yours looks much better than mine now (you powder coater you).

But, better yet, get a Sullens, EDAC, or Hirose edge connector. Solder it to a cheap edge connectorlike this. Break out buttons 4,5, & 6 off the Egret II edge connector by tapping the pins on the cheap edge connector and terminate to a Hirose CPS2 kick harness. Plug that bad boy into the Egret II and leave it there. Now you have it fully JAMMA compatible connection on your Egret II. Swapping JAMMA boards slowly reduces the connectivity on the Sullens, EDAC, or Hirose edge connector, not the Egret II connector. I am about halfway through completing this project.

What the hell guys? This is excellent info. I too have been looking for a edge connector with crimp on pins. Should have guessed it was JST!

I have a bunch of cabs that have these and they've all been rewired really badly with patch soldered wires. Irem Madonna, SNK Neo / Neo Candy and Taito cabs all have these connectors. I'm sure I have some other cabs too. The only cab manufacturer that I can say for certain that doesn't have these is Sega, but that still leaves a ton of Japanese candies.

"All cabs" is hyperbole, but so is "just a few".

Thanks, @dewmansnk!

EDIT: Goddamnit, JST Shop doesn't have anything. I'll email them.

So there was merit in the info posted. But before the OP was edited, there was a price tag for distribution of the parts which was a bit high ($70 USD per connector + pins). You missed that part @nem. In either case, the parts of the OP with merit remain in place.

EDIT: Now that this is no longer a sales post, it should be moved to arcade tech section.

This does not reflect negatively on the OP, I too know the excitement of finding items like this, you jump on the first quote because you just want to get these and you offer it up to others.

The datasheet is up, etc...so it can help other if they are looking for these. I placed a small order for pins and connectors, more than Ill ever need most likely. So can send some out to other at cost.

I think mostly Taito used these, maybe a few others. They are really good connectors.
