What's new
Frontend is not booting for me. Selecting them just sends me back to the launcher. Some games launch, but some do the samething Frontend does. What can I do to fix this?

Also, can I change what I want to be autobooted from a config file?

there's a file in D:\TypeXMulti that sets the autoboot game which you can edit or hold start when it boots up. From the menu hit the usb autoboot button to clear it out.

As for the other issue your drive likely did something silly like mine did. Try redoing the image and see if it works after that before you waste too much time chasing a bad data problem.

I have a few Qs
  • has anyone been able to get DariusBurst working on one screen in the 2.0 multi?
  • I heard theres an image of niko's 2.0 multi that works on the x3
If anyone could PM ME WITH MORE INFO I would appreciate that ;)

I realize this is a old post, but:
  1. A few people (including myself) have tried without success. It just crashes back to the menu for me. Using the TXAC key, default/custom .ini settings, JVS on/off, real FAST I/O, nothing seems to work.
  2. There's a link or a phrase to Google search (I forget which, lol) in the TX3 thread for the image.

Darius can work on a single monitor but it's kind of silly for requirements that makes it not worth it. You need to have two fastio boards plugged in both main and sub or it will not boot up.

You're better off just using xinput with the pc release.. It doesn't seem to have sound but I didn't try very hard :hungover:

Hi @sammargh

It's kind of ironic that the game is available to play everywhere except for on the original Taito X2 hardware.

In terms of game preservation it would be cool if somebody has a solution for single monitor or dual monitor with second monitor flip.

Quite a few people including myself have the full original setup minus a cabinet, a solution can even be secured against the dongle etc.

feel free to PM ;)

Thanks

Andygeezer previously offered something that solved for this (with custom protection on top), but I believe he may not be offering his services anymore.

Also, if I'm understanding Sammargh correctly, it works fine in the multi if you have two FAST I/Os hooked up and you just edit the ini file. Or am I missing something?

That's awesome if it's just the ini for single screen?:)

The JVS toggle does nothing tho I guess.

Andygeezer is still operational, I've used his services and would recommended him.

I read somebody came up with a patch to flip the second monitor to avoid the need to run an external processing device, although I can't find the info at the moment.

There's two modes in Darius: JVS and FastIO. JVS mode has a flipped screen for the second and FastIO are both "normal" for orientation. I've never bothered to figure out how to make it boot with JVS but two fastio boards should allow for both screens in normal orientation.

I just got a Kof 13 X2, works great.

I made a new drive with the 2.0 multi, but wasn't sure where to source the... additional files.

I found a bunch of dumps on a non English forum after googling. I tried a handful of them, organizing them in the proper folders.

Kof 13 Climax works fine.
Battle Fantasia seems ok but has no music.
Vampire Savior and Persona R immediately return back to the menu (though I expected this with the comment about not supporting nesica games...but there's people out there playing nesica games).
Deathsmiles 2 starts but freezes a second or two into the attract sequence.

I'm using a Sega JVS I/O and running at 640x480 on my Blast City for now.

Would anyone care to hold my hand through getting this set up?

The dumps you have may have been modified to work on consumer PCs with more modern versions of Windows. Could explain some of those weird issues. If you look around torrent sites, you may be able to find what you're looking for.

Did you turn on FAST I/O emulation for VSAV and Persona? Those games (and other Nesica titles) require that to be enabled for it to work via JVS.

DS2 isn't supported in V2.0 of the multi, BTW.

I have acquired the correct drive image.

Stuff I've learned:
1. Don't bother trying to write the image from Windows. Just get Linux (live boot is fine) and use dd.

2. If games are starting and then freezing, you may either need more ram or have bad ram. I replaced my 2x256mb sticks with 2x1gb sticks I somehow had lying around new in box, and now no more problems.

The “HDD Raw Copy Tool” is generally what I recommend to people, but as a native Linux user you can’t go wrong with “dd”.

Some games do require 1GB of RAM.

HDD raw copy tool did not work for me. It would get to about 26% and fail. "DD for windows" would do the same thing.

Rufus worked once when I had the drive attached via USB adapter but the second time it just stopped a few minutes in.

I think windows tries to mount the drive as it's writing and that messes up the whole thing. I really think it's easier to use Linux than deal with Windows (in general).

Man, @Lemony Vengeance , I asked for 20k more a year to deal with windows over Linux. It's so unstable, I have probably rebooted my windows workstation out of necessity more times in 3 months than I have all my iMacs in the last 2 years.

I use windows as a tool when necessary but lord I can't say I would ever use it by choice anymore, either for workstation or server at this point.

I would say you can't pay me enough to use Windows but I guess 20k extra covers it for during the work week lol
