Why Did the Artax Multi V6 Thread Get Locked?

Been following the convo.

Interesting to see SQArcade’s name pop up. They sell the “3D Saga” line of Pandora Box clones, as well as some i5-type boxes with single games on them. I purchased a PB from them last year when I was getting back up to speed on arcade stuff. I wish you could disable the video filter and force 4:3 on widescreen displays with it. The CP decal was cut with a dull blade and has a ragged edge that irritates your wrists.

Not much else to add, and the chat seems to be mostly going in circles, so I’ll unsub. If there’s a new thread dedicated to multi work, I might contribute, but… I might not. Feel free to tag me if you make one.

@Cookie — your now-deleted howto thread is the type of content I would have opened my wallet for, FYI. Well-written and easy to follow. I’d subscribe to a patreon with this kind of stuff. Just saying!

Believe me I wish I could contribute, but as someone stated not all of us have our strengths in this hobby. I love reading about the things this community has done and compared to other VG/arcade forums this is possibly the friendliest.

@Murray/Cookie,

I don't value the Artax V4 image because it is loaded with GAMEZ/ROMZ/WAREZ. Honestly, I just treasure it for the PC based systems (X, X2, X3, RING, etc)

It's nice to have all of those PC based PCB's consolidated into one PCB for the simplicity.

Playing 15khz games & pinball on my HD cabs is of no interest to me. I'd rather play 15Khz games on my CRT cabs TBH.

Like you said, there is no MAGIC here. It's simply multiple emulators put into a Frontend (Attract Mode w/ NXL theme) for ease of use. ex: Hyperspin, Big Box, etc...

The only people that complain about no new releases are the ones that either cannot do it themselves or won't.

All the ones that know how to do this are customizing the image behind the scenes. :thumbsup:

So if Elon Musk created Tesla, but only posted videos about the cars on YouTube but never offered them for sale, are you saying everyone should then learn how to build electric cars?

An apples to apples comparison would be Elon makes Tesla and releases it to the world. He then improves upon it with prototypes, shows it off, but does not release said protos, but instead spoon feeds you the information of how to take said released Tesla and make a customized/personalized prototype of your very own.

Thank you for clarifying, you are absolutely correct.

Maybe the misunderstanding of it all is the fact that V3 became V4. Also, in the V4 release notes it says that 2 of the 3 people working on it are no longer working on it, so future builds would be slower to be released. Then v5, v6 & v7 come out and are no longer being released to the public.

So either Murray is the last guy standing, OR he made his own v5/6/7 images that are not related to the "official" artax v4 image and a v5 will eventually be released.

That is where my confusion lies.

It’s a constant WIP and labor of love, the person working on it could be on v99 for all we really know.

The information “updates” were more of a “Hey, if you think you acquired/ bought an “official” v5,6,7 release of the multi, here are the hashes to check.” Otherwise who the hell really knows what’s on the multi, could be nothing but spyware and viruses.

I don’t give a monkeys chuff who’s got what version, my issue is that as we started making changes ourselves (as others had suggested we do) the thread got shut, yes we’re not all capable of doing it ourselves, but that goes for everything in life, if we could all do everything we’d all be rich brain surgeons or f1 drivers living the high life, we all have our own skills, unfortunately this isn’t one of mine 😆, but I was learning with help from others and now I’m back to square one thanks to the bitchyness.
I’m too old for this sh1t 😂

Ain't this the truth.

My furnace repair man once tried to convince me to do a repair myself. Which, in all technicality, if I literally could not afford to have it professionally done I would have been able to do. I pretty much had to convince him I had no problem paying for his time. The part was the exhaust motor and I'm not a fan of monoxide poisoning.
